Adela of Saluzzo (after 1055) was a northern Italian noblewoman. She was a member of the Obertenghi dynasty. Through marriage to Anselm II, margrave of Saluzzo, she was margravine of Saluzzo. Life Adela's parents were Albert Azzo I, Margrave of Milan and Adela of Milan. Her brother, Albert Azzo II, succeeded their father as margrave of Milan, and was the founder of the House of Este. Obertenghi
The House of Obertenghi were a prominent Italian noble family of Frankish origin descended from Viscount Adalbert III, first Margrave of Milan. The family held the titles of Marquis of Milan and Genoa, Count of Luni, Tortona, Genoa and Milan and regent of the March that took the family's name in the 10th century, the "Marca Obertenga", which encompassed most of the territories of present-day Northwest Italy and parts of Switzerland. The dynasty is the progenitor of the widely powerful and prestigious House of Este, as well the House of Welf, parent house of the Hanover dynasty. Albert Azzo I ( it, Alberto Azzo or ''Adalberto Azzo'') (c. 970 – 1029) was an Italian nobleman. He was a member of the Obertenghi (or Adalbertini) family. From 1014 onward, he was margrave of Milan and count of Luni, Genoa and Tortona. Life Albert was the son of Oberto II, count palatine of Milan, and Railenda, daughter of Count Riprand, and widow of Sigfred, Count of Seprio. Albert is attested in documents between 1011 and 1026. On 10 May 1013, he was acting as a '' missus'' in Italy. Also in May 1013 Albert is documented with ''iudiciaria'' (the right of justice) in Monselice. In 1014, he inherited the counties of Luni, Tortona, Genoa, and Milan on the death of his father, Otbert II, Margrave of Milan. His holdings were extensive and both feudal and allodial. Adela of Milan (c. 975 – after 1012) was a northern Italian noblewoman. Through her marriage to Albert Azzo I, Margrave of Milan, Adela was Margravine of Milan. Life Adela's parents and dynasty are unknown, although it has been suggested that she was related to Lanfranc, Count of Piacenza and of Aucia (a medieval county which consisted of territory between Parma, Piacenza and Cremona). Adela first appears in the historical record in 1011, when she purchased goods from a deacon named Donninus. The following year, Adela bought 250 yokes of land from Donninus. Also in 1012 Adela granted 290 yokes of land to the church of Cremona, with the consent of her husband, and Count Lanfranc. The Marquisate of Saluzzo () was a historical Italian state that included parts of the current region of Piedmont and of the French Alps. The Marquisate was much older than the Renaissance lordships, being a legacy of the feudalism of the High Middle Ages. Alberto Azzo II (997 or July 10, 1009, in Modena – August 20, 1097, in Modena), Margrave of Milan, and Liguria, Count of Gavello, Padua, Rovigo, Lunigiana, Monselice, and Montagnana, was a powerful nobleman in the Holy Roman Empire. He is considered the founder of Casa d'Este (House of Este), having been head of the first family to be master of Este, a town of Padua.
