Adam Wardziński
Adam Wardziński (born April 22, 1991) is a Polish retired Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner who is a 2-time IBJJF World Champion and 2019 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion in the adult men's black belt heavyweight division. He is the first ever European to achieve world titles in the men's competitions. In the gi, he is the only non-Brazilian to win in the heavy (94kg) weight class apart from Robert Drysdale's win in 2005. Wardziński is also the winner of the IBJJF Pan Championship (2023), IBJJF Pan No-Gi Championship (2023), IBJJF European Championship (2024, 2022), and AJP Abu Dhabi World Pro (2020 Note: The 2020 AJP World Championship was postponed to April 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.), among other titles. Robert Lewis Drysdale (born October 5, 1981) is a Brazilian-American Brazilian jiu-jitsu 4th degree black belt under Léo Vieira, a retired undefeated Mixed martial arts, mixed martial artist and an instructor at his own BJJ academy. Having won multiple World Championships, he was referred to by Vice (magazine), ''Vice'' magazine as "America's jiu-jitsu superhero", regarded by ''BJJ Heroes'' as "the most accomplished American grappler of his generation" and as the best Submission Wrestler in the World by ''Gracie Magazine''.''Gracie Magazine'', Issue 130, p. 42 Drysdale is one of only two Americans (with Rafael Lovato Jr.) to have won Mundials in the gi at 94 kg and up. World Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship
The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It is widely considered the most important and prestigious jiu-jitsu tournament of the year. The first edition took place in February 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 2007 the tournament has been held in California. The last edition of the championship took place at California State University in 2023. In 2024 the tournament will be held at the Walter pyramid in Long Beach California. History The first World Championship was held on 3 and 4 February 1996 at the Tijuca Tênis Clube in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2007 the tournament moved to California State University in Long Beach, US where it has been held ever since. The Championship is commonly known as "the Worlds" or "Mundials".
