Adam D. Weinberg
Adam D. Weinberg is an art museum curator. He was the Alice Pratt Brown Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art for 20 years, from October 1, 2003 to October 31, 2023. Education He holds a BA from Brandeis University and a master's degree from the Visual Studies Workshop, the State University of New York at Buffalo. Career Adam D. Weinberg has been a prominent figure in the arts since the 1980s, when he started his career at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis as Director of Education and Assistant Curator. He joined the Whitney in 1989, initially as Director of its Equitable Center Branch at 52nd and Seventh Avenue. After three years as the artistic and program director of the American Center France in Paris, he returned to the Whitney in 1993 as Curator of the Permanent Collection and was elevated to Senior Curator in 1998. A curator (from , meaning 'to take care') is a manager or overseer. When working with cultural organizations, a curator is typically a "collections curator" or an "exhibitions curator", and has multifaceted tasks dependent on the particular institution and its mission. Jack Whitten
Jack Whitten (December 5, 1939 – January 20, 2018) was an American abstract painter and sculptor, who was part of the Black Abstractionism canon. Nari Ward
Nari Ward (born 1963 in St. Andrew, Jamaica) is a Jamaican-American artist based in New York City. He is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Hunter College. His work is often composed of found objects from his neighborhood, and "address issues related to consumer culture, poverty, and race". His awards include the Vilcek Prize in Fine Arts in 2017, and the Rome Prize in 2012. Early life and education Ward was born in 1963 in St. Andrew, Jamaica and moved to the United States at age 12.
