Adam Bandt
Adam Paul Bandt (born 11 March 1972) is an Australian former politician and industrial lawyer who was the leader of the Australian Greens from 2020 to 2025. He previously served as the member of parliament (MP) for the Victoria (state), Victorian division of Division of Melbourne, Melbourne from 2010 to 2025 and was the co-deputy leader of the Greens from 2012 to 2015 and 2017 to 2020. Bandt won his seat in the 2010 Australian federal election, 2010 federal election, becoming the first member of the Greens elected to the Australian House of Representatives, House of Representatives at a federal election, and the second overall after Michael Organ, who was elected at a 2002 Cunningham by-election, by-election. The 2002 Cunningham by-election was held in the Australian electorate of Cunningham in New South Wales on 19 October 2002. The by-election was triggered by the resignation of the sitting member, the Australian Labor Party's Stephen Martin on 16 August 2002. The writ for the by-election was issued on 16 September 2002.
