Adalbert Rethi
Adalbert Rethi (6 May 1943, Târgu Mureș - 14 October 2008, Hungary) was an ethnic Hungarian table tennis player from Romania. While playing for Dinamo Târgu Mureș he was discovered by Farkas Paneth, who took him to CSM Cluj. His first international success was at the 1959 Youth Table Tennis European Championship, where he won the doubles competition with Radu Negulescu. At the 1962 Youth European Championship he won a silver medal in the doubles competition, and a bronze in the singles competition. In the national championships he won 16 titles, among them three in the singles competition four in the doubles with Radu Negulescu, one in the mixed with Eleonora Mihalcă and the rest as a team member of CSM Cluj (alongside Dorin Giurgiuca, Radu Negulescu, etc.), a team with which he won five European Club Cup Championships. Târgu Mureș
Târgu Mureș (, ; hu, Marosvásárhely ) is the seat of Mureș County in the historical region of Transylvania, Romania. It is the 16th largest Romanian city, with 134,290 inhabitants as of the 2011 census. It lies on the Mureș River, the second longest river in Romania (after the Danube). Names and etymology The current Romanian name of the city, ''Târgu Mureș'', is the equivalent of the Hungarian ''Marosvásárhely'', both meaning "market on the Mureș (Maros) iver. The Babeș-Bolyai University ( ro, Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai , hu, Babeș-Bolyai Tudományegyetem, commonly known as UBB) is a public research university located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The Balkan Athletics Championships or Balkan Games () is a regional athletics competition held between nations from the Balkans and organized by Balkan Athletics. The first games were held in Athens in 1929, and the most recent were being held in Craiova, Romania, in 2022. Organization The Games of 1929 were unofficial, and organized by the Hellenic Amateur Athletic Association (SEGAS). They became formalized after 1930 and have been held regularly since, with the exception of the 1940–1953 period due to the Second World War and post-war turmoil. Cegléd (; german: Zieglet) is a city in Pest county, Hungary, approximately southeast of the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Name The name of the town is of disputed origin. The name may be derived from the word "szeglet" (meaning "corner") due to its being a junction point of several important routes, while it may also have been derived from a proper name, i. e. from the name of a man called "Cegléd". The European Table Tennis Championships is an international table tennis competition for the national teams of the member associations of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU). First held in 1958, the ETTU organised the European Championships every two years in even-numbered years until 2002, when they changed to odd-numbered years.
