Activision Tennis
''Tennis'' is a sports video game for the Atari 2600, Atari VCS (later called the Atari 2600) which was written by Activision co-founder Alan Miller (game designer), Alan Miller and published by Activision in 1981. Gameplay ''Tennis'' offers Tennis singles, singles matches for one or two players; one player is colored pink, the other blue. The game has two user-selectable speed levels. When serving and returning Tennis shots, shots, the tennis players automatically swing forehand or backhand depending on the situation, and all shots automatically clear the net and land in bounds. The first player to win one six-game Set (tennis), set is declared the winner of the match (if the set ends in a 6-6 tie, the set restarts from 0-0). This differs from professional tennis, where players must win at least two out of three six-game sets. ''Pong'' is a 1972 sports video game developed and published by Atari for arcades. It is one of the earliest arcade video games; it was created by Allan Alcorn as a training exercise assigned to him by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell, but Bushnell and Atari co-founder Ted Dabney were surprised by the quality of Alcorn's work and decided to manufacture the game. Bushnell based the game's concept on an electronic ping-pong game included in the Magnavox Odyssey, the first home video game console. In response, Magnavox later sued Atari for patent infringement. ''RealSports Tennis'' is a sports video game developed and published by Atari, Inc. for the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Atari 8-bit computers in 1983. It is part of the '' RealSports'' series of games. Gameplay Before the game starts, players have to name their character, a first for an Atari 2600 game, and choose between one and two player mode and the two pre-set difficulty levels ("slow" and "fast"). In the game, one player with a blue shirt plays tennis against an AI enemy portrayed by a non-player character (NPC) with a red shirt. In the two-player mode, one player competes against another player local. Players can move vertically and horizontally on the map.
