Action Stations (film)
''Not to be confused with the 1943 Canadian World War II documentary of the same name.'' ''Action Stations'' (also known as ''Pasaporte al infierno'' and ''East of Barcelona'') is a 1959 British/Spanish co-production action drama film directed by Cecil H. Williamson (English language prints) and Ramón Quadreny (Spanish language prints) and starring Paul Carpenter, María Martín and Joe Robinson. It was filmed in 1956 but unreleased until 1959. Plot Bob Reynolds and Pete Archer are smugglers ferrying contraband to Spanish ports in their small sailing ship. They meet Anna Braun, the daughter of a master engraver in hiding from a gang led by Kleivar, and decide to help her. When she is kidnapped Reynolds and Archer force one of the gang to reveal the location of their mountain headquarters. Kleivar and his gang meet their end when their car falls from a cliff. Paul Carpenter (actor)
Paul Carpenter (8 December 1921 – 12 June 1964) was a Canadian actor and singer. Life and career Carpenter originally attended medical school in Montreal, but left aged 17 to join the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a war correspondent. He also played professional hockey in Canada. He moved to Britain and sang with Ted Heath and His Music in the 1940s and starred in the BBC Radio serial ''Riders of the Range'' (1949–1953) as the cowboy Jeff Arnold, where he shared the billing with his dog, Rustler (played by Percy Edwards). As a movie actor he "made over three dozen British films in the post-war decades, most of them 'B' pictures, such as '' Diplomatic Passport'' (1954) and '' One Jump Ahead'' (1955), to which he brought an easy, likeable authority that seemed more difficult for British actors to achieve". Mary Martin
Mary Virginia Martin (December 1, 1913 – November 3, 1990) was an American actress and singer. A muse of Rodgers and Hammerstein, she originated many leading roles on stage over her career, including Nellie Forbush in ''South Pacific'' (1949), the title character in '' Peter Pan'' (1954), and Maria von Trapp in ''The Sound of Music'' (1959). Joe Robinson (actor)
Joseph Robinson (31 May 1927 – 3 July 2017) was an English actor and stuntman born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. He was a champion professional wrestler, as were his father Joseph and his grandfather John. His brother, Doug Robinson, is also an actor and stuntman. Career Professional wrestling Robinson initially embarked on a career in wrestling as 'Tiger Joe Robinson' and won the European Heavyweight Championship in 1952. At the same time, he was also interested in acting and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After injuring his back wrestling in Paris he decided to concentrate on acting. Joe Robinson's daughter Polly Robinson (Hardy-Stewart) has also continued the family's success in martial arts by winning the junior Judo championships in the 1980s. Cecil Williamson (18 September 1909 – 9 December 1999) was a British screenwriter, editor and film director and influential English Neopagan Warlock. He was the founder of both the Witchcraft Research Center which was a part of MI6's war against Nazi Germany, and the Museum of Witchcraft. He was a friend of both Gerald Gardner, who was the founder of Wicca, and also of the notorious occultist Aleister Crowley. María Martín (actress)
María Martín (14 July 1923 – 10 June 2014) was a Spanish actress. After making her screen debut in 1943, Martín appeared in around eighty films during her career including ''Dawn of America'' (1951) and ''Bilbao'' (1978.) Ronald Leigh-Hunt (5 October 1920 – 12 September 2005) was a British film and television actor. His father was a stockbroker and he attended the Italia Conti Academy. He began acting whilst serving in the army.
