Iain MacCormick (1917–1965) was a Scottish-Australian writer. He wrote for British TV in the 1950s and 1960s and a number of his works were adapted for Australian TV. Andrée Melly (15 September 1932 – 31 January 2020) was an English actress. Career Born in Liverpool, Lancashire, she performed at the Old Vic in ''Romeo and Juliet'', ''The Merchant of Venice'' and T.S. Eliot’s ''Murder in the Cathedral'' in her early twenties and worked with Peter Finch and Robert Donat at the theatre. In 1958, she appeared with the Jamaican actor Lloyd Reckord in the Ted Willis play '' Hot Summer Night'', a production which was later adapted for the ''Armchair Theatre'' series in 1959 and in which she was a participant in the earliest known interracial kiss on television. She continued to appear on British television until 1991. Her other stage work includes the original West End production of the farce '' Boeing-Boeing'' at the Apollo Theatre in 1962 with David Tomlinson and as Alice "Childie" McNaught in ''The Killing of Sister George'' at St Martin's in 1966. Keith Joseph Michell (1 December 1926 – 20 November 2015) was an Australian actor who worked primarily in the United Kingdom, and was best known for his television and film portrayals of King Henry VIII. He appeared extensively in Shakespeare and other classics and musicals in Britain, and was also in several Broadway productions. He was an artistic director of the Chichester Festival Theatre in the 1970s and later had a recurring role on ''Murder, She Wrote'' as the charming thief Dennis Stanton. He was also known for illustrating a collection of Jeremy Lloyd's poems ''Captain Beaky'', and singing the title song from the associated album. Peter Ewen Solon (7 September 1917 – 7 July 1985) was a New Zealand-born actor, who worked extensively in both the United Kingdom and Australia. At the outbreak of World War II, Solon became a member of the First Echelon, 2nd NZEF that saw service in the Middle East. Later appointed as a commissioned officer, he married Frances Gwendolyne Hughes, a New Zealander; also serving in Egypt during the War. After training as a primary school teacher he travelled overseas to pursue an acting career. Leonard Meyer Sachs (26 September 1909 – 15 June 1990) was a South African-born British actor. Life and career Sachs was born in the town of Roodepoort, in the then Transvaal Colony, present day South Africa. He was Jewish. He emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1929 and had many television and film roles from the 1930s to the 1980s, including Mowbray in the 1950 BBC Television version of ''Richard II'', John Wesley in the 1954 film of the same name and Lord Mount Severn in ''East Lynne'' from 1976. He founded an Old Time Music Hall, named the Players' Theatre, in Villiers Street, Charing Cross, London. Philip Stainton (9 April 1908 – 1 August 1961) was an English actor. Stainton appeared in several Ealing comedies and major international movies. He specialized in playing friendly or exasperated uniformed policemen, but also appeared in other comic and straight roles in British and Australian productions. After beginning in repertory, in the postwar years he worked steadily in bit and featured parts in theatrical films; twice being directed by John Ford and once by John Huston when they shot on European or overseas locations. He first visited Australia as part of a touring company presenting Agatha Christie’s play '' Witness for the Prosecution''. According to several biographies Swanwick endured major health problems in the 1960s that resulted in his undergoing undisclosed operations that left him with a short time to live.
