Achille Perilli
Achille Perilli (28 January 1927 – 16 October 2021) was an Italian painter and sculptor. Biography Born in Rome on 28 January 1927, Achille Perilli attended classical secondary school and earned a degree in literature with a thesis on Giorgio de Chirico. After World War II, he founded the group Forma 1 alongside Carla Accardi, Ugo Attardi, Pietro Consagra, , and Giulio Turcato. He was a master in abstractionism, as seen in his exhibitions at the Venice Biennale in 1952, 1958, 1962, and 1968. From 1948 to 1986, he participated in the Rome Quadriennale on five separate occasions. From 1963 to 1964, he participated in the touring exhibition ''Peintures italiennes d'aujourd'hui'' in Beyrouth, Damas, Teheran, Ankara and Tunis. In 1995, he became a member of the Accademia di San Luca and received the award from the President of the Republic of Italy Oscar Luigi Scalfaro in 1997. Accademia Di San Luca
The Accademia di San Luca () is an Italian academy of artists in Rome. The establishment of the Accademia de i Pittori e Scultori di Roma was approved by papal brief in 1577, and in 1593 Federico Zuccari became its first ''principe'' or director; the statutes were ratified in 1607. Other founders included Girolamo Muziano and Pietro Olivieri. The Academy was named for Luke the Evangelist, the patron saint of painters. From the late sixteenth century until it moved to its present location at the Palazzo Carpegna, it was based in an urban block by the Roman Forum and although these buildings no longer survive, the Academy church of Santi Luca e Martina, does. Oscar Luigi Scalfaro (; 9 September 1918 – 29 January 2012) was an Italian politician who served as President of Italy from 1992 to 1999. A member of Christian Democracy (DC), he became an independent politician after the DC's dissolution in 1992, and was close to the centre-left Democratic Party when it was founded in 2007.
