Acheikh Ibn-Oumar
Acheikh Ibn-Oumar (born 1951) is a Chadian politician and military leader. In the 1980s he led the Democratic Revolutionary Council (in French CDR: Conseil Démocratique Révolutionnaire), a military-political group opposing the government of President Hissène Habré. He studied mathematics in France, and then, in the late 70's, joined the historical Chadian revolutionary mouvement FROLINAT (Chad National Liberation Front; in French : "FRont de LIbération NATionale du Tchad). He held several cabinet positions within the GUNT (Chad National Union Government; in French, "Gouvernement d'Union Nationale du Tchad"), led by Goukouni Weddeye (or Oueddei). In November 1984, Acheikh Ibn-Oumar was arrested in Tripoli and then transferred to Tibesti where he remained in detention until December 1985, because of serious divergences with both late Colonel Gaddafi and Goukouni. Oum Hadjer
Oum Hadjer () is a small city in Chad, and the capital of Batha Est Departments of Chad, Department. It straddles the ephemeral Batha River, lies on the main road between Khartoum and N'Djamena, and has a small airport. Strategically located, it has been contested by government and rebel forces in 1982, 1990, and January 2008. Oum Hadjer is also the name of the Sub-prefectures of Chad, Sub-Prefecture that the city is within. The population of the entire Oum Hadjer Sub-Prefecture is about 14,500. The Union of Resistance Forces (, ; abbreviated UFR) is an alliance of Chadian rebel groups. Origins The UFR was founded in mid-January 2009 as an alliance of eight separate rebel groups: History The UFR was established near the end of the Chadian Civil War (2005–2010) by rebel groups opposed to the government of President Idriss Déby. Timane Erdimi, nephew of Déby and leader of the RFC, was appointed the head of the alliance. UFR forces suffered severe losses to the Chadian Army at the Battle of Am Dam in May 2009 and the Battle of Tamassi in April 2010. The severe casualties suffered by the UFR, along with peace agreements signed between Chad and Sudan, led the alliance to splinter and disperse. Timane Erdimi
Timane Erdimi is the leader of the Chadian rebel group Rally of Forces for Change, Rally of Democratic Forces (''Rassemblement des Forces pour le Changement'', RFC) which had 800 soldiers in early 2008. Aboud Mackaye
Abdelwahid Aboud Mackaye (born 1953) is a Chadian insurgent leader involved in the war to topple the Chadian President Idriss Déby. Originally a fighter in the Democratic Revolutionary Council (CDR) militia during the first Chadian Civil War, under Déby he became a civil servant before defecting to the rebels in 2003. After having been for a time first in the FUC and later in the UFDD, he has founded in 2007 the UFDD-Fundamental, which has participated in February 2008 to the unsuccessful attack on N'Djamena. A Missiria Arab, Abdelwahid was born in 1953 near to Oum Hadjer in Batha. UFDD
The Union of Forces for Democracy and Development is the largest group of Chadian rebel forces opposed to former President Idriss Déby. It was formed in October 2006 under the leadership of Mahamat Nouri. Movement For Democracy And Justice In Chad
Movement for Democracy and Justice in Chad (, abbreviated as MDJT) is a Chadian rebel group. It initially tried to oust the government of the current Chadian president Idriss Déby from October 1998–2003. The movement was founded by Youssouf Togoïmi, Déby's former Defense Minister, and operated primarily in Bourkou-Ennedi-Tibesti and the Tibesti Mountains. Though MDJT fought mostly against the Chadian Military, they were accused of assassinating the President of an opposition party in 1999, but no evidence supports this claim. MDJT began negotiating with the Chadian government in January 2002 and signed a treaty giving amnesty to all MDJT rebels who stopped fighting. A MDJT remnant continued to fight to on a smaller scale until another agreement was signed in December 2003. This accord ensured high-ranking government positions for MDJT members.
