''Tinea'' is a genus of the fungus moth family, Tineidae. Therein, it belongs to the subfamily Tineinae. As evident by its name, it is the type genus of its subfamily and family. Established as one of the first subgroups of ''"Phalaena"'', it used to contain many species of Tineidae that are nowadays placed in other genera, as well as a few moths nowadays placed elsewhere. Selected species Species of ''Tinea'' include: * ''Tinea accusatrix'' Meyick, 1916 (New Zealand) * ''Tinea analytica'' Meyrick, 1919 (from Guyana) * ''Tinea antricola'' Meyrick, 1924 (India, Sumatra, Indonesia and Malaysia) * '' Tinea apicimaculella'' Chambers, 1875 (North America) * ''Tinea atmogramma'' Meyrick, 1927 (New Zealand) * ''Tinea atriflua'' Meyrick, 1919 (from Ontario, Canada) * '' Tinea basifasciella'' Ragonot, 1895 * '' Tinea behrensella'' Chambers, 1875 * '' Tinea bothniella'' Svensson, 1953 * ''Tinea borboropis'' Meyrick, 1919 (from Guyana) * ''Tinea caerula'' Meyrick, 1927 (from Peru) * '' ...

Case-bearing Clothes Moth
''Tinea pellionella'', the case-bearing clothes moth, is a species of tineoid moth in the family Tineidae, the fungus moths. This species has a cosmopolitan distribution, occurring nearly worldwide. Taxonomy Being a widespread species and often affiliated with humans, ''T. pellionella'' was among the first moths to be scientifically described in the modern sense. At that time most moths were included in a single genus ''"Phalaena"'', but ''Tinea'' was already recognized as a distinct subgenus. Some later researchers who studied this moth erroneously believed they had discovered populations formerly unknown to science and described them as new species, but today these are all included within ''T. pellionella''. Obsolete scientific names for this moth thus may be encountered in the literature, and include: * ''Phalaena'' (''Tinea'') ''pellionella'' Linnaeus, 1758 * ''Phalaena zoolegella'' Scopoli, 1763 * ''Tinea demiurga'' Meyrick, 1920 * ''Tinea gerasimovi'' Zagulajev, 1978 * ''T ...

Species
A species () is often defined as the largest group of organisms in which any two individuals of the appropriate sexes or mating types can produce fertile offspring, typically by sexual reproduction. It is the basic unit of Taxonomy (biology), classification and a taxonomic rank of an organism, as well as a unit of biodiversity. Other ways of defining species include their karyotype, DNA sequence, morphology (biology), morphology, behaviour, or ecological niche. In addition, palaeontologists use the concept of the chronospecies since fossil reproduction cannot be examined. The most recent rigorous estimate for the total number of species of eukaryotes is between 8 and 8.7 million. About 14% of these had been described by 2011. All species (except viruses) are given a binomial nomenclature, two-part name, a "binomen". The first part of a binomen is the name of a genus to which the species belongs. The second part is called the specific name (zoology), specific name or the specific ...

Tinea Catalytica
Dermatophytosis, also known as tinea and ringworm, is a fungal infection of the skin (a dermatomycosis), that may affect skin, hair, and nails. Typically it results in a red, itchy, scaly, circular rash. Hair loss may occur in the area affected. Symptoms begin four to fourteen days after exposure. The types of dermatophytosis are typically named for area of the body that they affect. Multiple areas can be affected at a given time. About 40 types of fungus can cause dermatophytosis. They are typically of the ''Trichophyton'', ''Microsporum'', or '' Epidermophyton'' type. Risk factors include using public showers, contact sports such as wrestling, excessive sweating, contact with animals, obesity, and poor immune function. Ringworm can spread from other animals or between people. Diagnosis is often based on the appearance and symptoms. It may be confirmed by either culturing or looking at a skin scraping under a microscope. Prevention is by keeping the skin dry, not walki ...

Tinea Atmogramma
''Tinea atmogramma'' is a species of moth in the family Tineidae. It was described by Edward Meyrick in 1927. However the placement of this species within the genus ''Tinea'' is in doubt. As a result, this species has been referred to as ''Tinea'' (s.l.) ''atmogramma''. This species is endemic to New Zealand New Zealand () is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
