Acadèmia Del Cinema Català
The Catalan Film Academy (''Acadèmia del Cinema Català'', in Catalan language, Catalan) is a non-profit organization located in Barcelona created to recognize Catalan cinema, Catalan film productions and professionals, with the objective of being a voice of the Catalan film industry. The Academy joins both creative and productive branches of filmmaking, artistically and scientifically, in the same way as the other film academies. It is a member of the European Film Academy's network of national film academies. It annually holds the Gaudí Awards. Judith Colell
Judith Colell i Pallarès (Barcelona, July 14, 1968) is a Catalan film director, screenwriter and producer. Since July 2021 she has been president of the Catalan Film Academy. Biography Colell was awarded a degree in art history at the University of Barcelona. Afterwards she got a certificate in film from the New York University. Since then, she has directed a number of films, including ''Dones'', winner of the 2001 Butaca Prize for best Catalan film, and ''Elisa K'', which was co-directed by Jordi Cadena and has been shown at film festivals across the world. This film won the Jury's Special Award at 2010s edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival and the National Prize Of Cinema of the Catalan Government, the Generalitat de Catalunya. After the war had ended the Nationalist government had a policy of centralisation and the suppression of regional nationalism which existed in Catalonia and in the Basque country. The European Film Academy is a group of European film director, filmmakers who come together in Berlin on the occasion of the first presentation of the European Film Awards in November 1988. Every year, the European Film Academy honors films and filmmakers with the European Film Awards. The ceremony takes place every even year in a different European city and every odd year in Berlin. The Gaudí Awards () are the main film awards of Catalonia, celebrated annually in Barcelona. Joel Joan
Joel Joan i Juvé (; born 2 November 1970) is a Catalan actor, screenwriter and director. Biography Joan studied dramatic arts at Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. He began his acting career on the stage, appearing in productions directed by Calixto Bieito, Sergi Belbel and Rosa Maria Sardà. His first major television role came in 1994 on the TV3 show ''Poblenou''. That same year he helped found the Kràmpack theater company. The company's success gave them the opportunity to create a television show. The sitcom '' Plats bruts'' (“Dirty Dishes”), co-starring Joan, made its debut on TV3 in 1999. Joan went on to direct, write and co-star in ''Porca misèria'', which aired on TV3 from 2004 to 2007.
