Abyzou (film)
''The Offering'' is a 2023 American horror film, horror-thriller film directed by Oliver Park and with a screenplay by Hank Hoffman from a story by Hoffman and Jonathan Yunger, based on the Jewish folktale of Abyzou. It stars Nick Blood, Emily Wiseman, Allan Corduner, Paul Kaye, Daniel Ben Zenou and Jodie Jacobs. Plot An old man conducts a ritual by slaughtering a chicken and hurriedly spreading ash in a circle. His sickly wife appears at the door and tells him to stop, to which he replies "Burn in hell". He starts reading from a book and the letters start to bleed. Then a little girl whispers his name, Yossle, and asks him if he wants to see his wife again, to which he replies negatively. He steps outside the circle, swallowing a dark smoke as his sclera turns black. He then stabs himself with a knife from his back pocket. Oliver Park (born 13 April 1986) is a British horror writer and director. He is best known for his 2015/2016 short horror ''Vicious,'' voted as one of the best short horror films ever made by Buzzfeed. He then went onto make his second short horror ''Still'', released by Eli Roth's Crypt TV in 2017. Based in Bristol, Park is currently developing a number of feature-length film projects. Brian Taylor is an American filmmaker. He is best known for collaborating with Mark Neveldine in the writing and directing team Neveldine/Taylor. Career Taylor attended the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood and began his career as a cinematographer, working on independent films and low-budget shorts. In the early 2000s, Taylor united with Mark Neveldine to form the directing team Neveldine/Taylor. Known for their aggressive, high energy camerawork, the team signed with @radical.media in 2004 as commercial directors. The COVID-19 pandemic in Bulgaria was a part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 ().
