''Risotto'' is the fourth album by British electronica group Fluke. The album was released on 26 May 1997 by Circa Records and 30 September 1997 by Astralwerks. It was the band's last album recorded with Mike Tournier. Overview The album is named after the dish risotto (). The album artwork was designed by The Designers Republic and features a chrome-plated KitchenAid mixer. Many of the tracks that brought Fluke to a larger audience are featured on this album, including "Atom Bomb", used on the '' Wipeout 2097'' soundtrack, and "Absurd," used in many films/trailers, including a 1998 Volkswagen Beetle commercial, ''Sin City'' in 2005, and the episode "Chaos" from the show ''Spaced''. "Absurd" (stylized as "ABSUЯD") is a song by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, released as a single on August 6, 2021. The song marks the group's first release of new material since the release of ''Chinese Democracy'' in 2008. It is also the first new track to feature guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan since the 1994 release of " Sympathy for the Devil". Originally written during the ''Chinese Democracy'' sessions, "Absurd" was first performed live in 2001 as "Silkworms". The reworked version made its live debut on August 3, 2021 in Boston. The Theatre of the Absurd (french: théâtre de l'absurde ) is a post–World War II designation for particular plays of absurdist fiction written by a number of primarily European playwrights in the late 1950s. It is also a term for the style of theatre the plays represent. The plays focus largely on ideas of existentialism and express what happens when human existence lacks meaning or purpose and communication breaks down. The structure of the plays is typically a round shape, with the finishing point the same as the starting point. Logical construction and argument give way to irrational and illogical speech and to the ultimate conclusion— silence. Etymology Critic Martin Esslin coined the term in his 1960 essay "The Theatre of the Absurd", which begins by focusing on the playwrights Samuel Beckett, Arthur Adamov, and Eugène Ionesco. ''Absurd'' (Italian: ''Rosso Sangue'', literal translation: ''Red Blood''; also known as ''Anthropophagus 2'', ''Zombie 6: Monster Hunter'', ''Horrible'' and ''The Grim Reaper 2'') is a 1981 Italian slasher film directed, lensed and co-produced by Joe D'Amato and starring George Eastman, who also wrote the story and screenplay. Plot Mikos Tanoupoulos is a man who was experimented on in a church-sanctioned scientific experiment that gave him a healing factor but inadvertently drove him insane. The Vatican priest who helped create him pursues the homicidal Mikos to a small American town, attempting to kill him by impaling him on a set of railings which disembowel him, but he is revived later in a local hospital. Surreal humour (also called surreal comedy, absurdist humour, or absurdist comedy) is a form of humour predicated on deliberate violations of causal reasoning, thus producing events and behaviours that are obviously illogical. Portrayals of surreal humour tend to involve bizarre juxtapositions, incongruity, non-sequiturs, irrational or absurd situations, and expressions of nonsense. Absurdist fiction is a genre of novels, plays, poems, films, or other media that focuses on the experiences of characters in situations where they cannot find any inherent purpose in life, most often represented by ultimately meaningless actions and events that call into question the certainty of existential concepts such as truth or value. The absurdist genre of literature arose in the 1950s and 1960s, first predominantly in France and Germany, prompted by post-war disillusionment.
