''Absolute Anthology 1965 to 1969'' is a compilation album by Australian rock band The Easybeats, released on November 17, 1980. The album was compiled by Australian rock journalist Glenn A. Baker. It features singles, EP, album tracks, unreleased studio & demo recordings and other rarities spanning the group's recording career. It reached #37 on the Australian albums charts. This album was re-released in 1986 on compact disc. The album was remastered by Don Bartley and reissued on compact disc in Australia on 29 September 2017 This was a 4 CD disc release with no additional content and each disc containing the tracklisting of each side of the original vinyl LP. The Easybeats
The Easybeats were an Australian Rock music, rock band that formed in Sydney in late 1964. They enjoyed a level of success that in Australia rivalled The Beatles. They became the first Australian rock act to score an international hit, with the 1966 single "Friday on My Mind", as well as one of the few in Australia to foreground their original material. During their six-year run, they scored 15 top 40 hits in Australia, including "She's So Fine" and "Women (Make You Feel Alright)", with other No. 1 hits including "Friday on My Mind" and "Sorry (Easybeats song), Sorry". They broke up in 1969, and reformed for one tour in 1986. Singer Stevie Wright died in 2015 and rhythm guitarist George Young (rock musician), George Young died in 2017. ''Volume 3'' is a studio album by the Australian rock band The Easybeats, released on 3 November 1966. It was the third and final album from the group recorded in Australia before relocating to England. Production Like their previous release, ''It's 2 Easy'', this album was recorded during one of their tours of Melbourne at Armstrong Studios and at Studios 301, EMI Studios in Sydney. Ted Albert returned as producer with Parlophone Australia's A&R manager, Tony Geary. Releases It was released by Albert Productions on the Parlophone label in Australia on 3 November 1966, after the band had departed for the UK. Harry Vanda
Johannes Hendrikus Jacob van den Berg (born 22 March 1946), better known as his stage name Harry Vanda, is a Dutch Australian musician, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as lead guitarist of the 1960s Australian rock band the Easybeats who with fellow member George Young formed the 1970s and 1980s songwriting and record production duo Vanda & Young. Early life Vanda's family migrated to Australia from the Netherlands in 1963, and settled in Sydney. Vanda, who had been a guitarist with the Hague-based band the Starfighters, came to fame in 1964–65 as the lead guitarist of the Easybeats. In the same year he met rhythm guitarist George Young at the Villawood migrant hostel. In 2007, ''Australian Musician'' magazine selected this meeting as the most significant event in Australian pop and rock music history. For My Woman
"For My Woman" is a song by Australian rock band the Easybeats, written by singer Stevie Wright and guitarist George Young. The Easybeats had formed in Sydney in 1964, with a sound inspired by the Pretty Things and the Rolling Stones. After signing with their manager Mike Vaughan, he introduced the band to producer and businessman Ted Albert, who liked them enough to sign with his company Albert Productions in December 1964. The song was recorded in January 1965 at the 2UW Theatre in Sydney as a demo together with three other songs. Musically, "For My Woman" is centered in rhythm and blues and is structurally a relatively simple song, heavily revolving around two repeating chords. George Young (rock Musician)
George Redburn Young (6 November 1946 – 22 October 2017) was an Australian musician, songwriter and record producer. He was a founding member of the bands the Easybeats and Flash and the Pan, and was one-half of the songwriting and production duo Vanda & Young with his long-time musical collaborator Harry Vanda. Born in Scotland, Young moved to Australia with his family as a teenager, and became a naturalised citizen. He was a member of the 1960s Australian rock band the Easybeats, and co-wrote with bandmate Harry Vanda the international hits " Friday on My Mind" and " Love Is in the Air", the latter recorded by John Paul Young (who is unrelated). Vanda and Young were also the producers of early work by the Australian hard rock band AC/DC, formed by his younger brothers Malcolm and Angus Young.
