Abril Lamarque
Eduardo Abril Lamarque was a Cubans, Cuban and Americans, American Caricature, caricaturist, cartoonist, artist, designer, and Publishing, magazine publisher. He also engaged himself as a stage magician and as a music conductor. Lamarque was an innovator in the arts of typography, magazine layout and Graphic design, design, and caricature creation. He was the first person in the world to create, draw, and distribute a comic strip entirely in the Spanish language. Prior to this, Spanish language comic strips had only been translations of comics from other languages. In the 1920s, Lamarque was considered one of the top ten greatest cartoonists living in the United States. Lamarque also invented entirely new forms of art, such as his infamous ''radiocatures'', genre forms of cartoons, and a new style of caricature he called the ''composacature''. Banes, Cuba
Banes is a municipality and city in the Holguín Province of Cuba. Banes was an important area for the native Taino people before the conquest by Columbus. The town of Banes is visited by tourists from Guardalavaca as it is the nearest town to the resort, and both are in the municipality of Banes. A museum featuring the Taino culture is situated halfway between both towns. History The name comes from the inhabitants Taino language word ''Bani'', meaning "valley". The Linotype machine ( ) is a "line casting" machine used in printing which is manufactured and sold by the former Mergenthaler Linotype Company and related It was a hot metal typesetting system that cast lines of metal type for one-time use. Linotype became one of the mainstays for typesetting, especially small-size body text, for newspapers, magazines, and posters from the late 19th century to the 1970s and 1980s, when it was largely replaced by phototypesetting and digital typesetting. The name of the machine comes from producing an entire line of metal type at once, hence a ''line-o'-type''. Oriente Province
Oriente (, "East") was the easternmost province of Cuba until 1976. The term "Oriente" is still used to refer to the eastern part of the country, which currently is divided into five different provinces. The origins of Oriente lie in the 1607 division of Cuba into a western and eastern administration. The eastern part was governed from Santiago de Cuba and it was subordinate to the national government in Havana. In 1807, Cuba was divided into three ''departamentos'': Occidental, Central and Oriental. This arrangement lasted until 1851, when the central department was merged back into the West.
