Abraham K. Allison
Abraham Kurkindolle Allison (December 10, 1814 – July 8, 1893) was a Florida businessman and politician. He served in the Florida Territory, Florida Territorial Legislature and the Florida House of Representatives, Florida State House of Representatives. He served as the List of Governors of Florida, sixth Governor of Florida, at the end of the American Civil War. Early life Allison was born in Jones County, Georgia, on December 10, 1814, to Captain James and Sarah Fannin Allison. After he graduated from school, he worked as a merchant in Columbus, Georgia, and in Henry County, Alabama.Morris pg. 299 He then moved to Apalachicola, Florida, where he served as the city's first mayor. John Milton (Florida Politician)
John Milton (April 20, 1807 – April 1, 1865) was governor of Florida through most of the American Civil War. A lawyer who served in the Florida Legislature, he supported the secession of Florida from the Union and became governor in October 1861. In that post, he turned the state into a major supplier of food for the Confederacy. In his final message to the state legislature as the war was ending, he declared that death would be preferable to reunion with the North. When he killed himself, his son Jefferson Davis Milton was a toddler.
