Abhirami Pattar born () Subramaniya Iyer was a Hindu saint from the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He is famed as the author of a collection of hymns called '' Abhirami Anthadhi'' which is widely regarded as one of the foremost works of modern Tamil literature. Etymology Abhirami (, Lit. She who is attractive at every moment of time) refers to the goddess Abhirami in Thirukadaiyur. Pattar () is the Tamil word for priest. Abhirami Bhattar means ''The priest of Abhirami''. Early life Subramaniya Iyer was born to Amirthalinga Iyer in the village of Thirukadaiyur. Thirukkadaiyur has one of many elegant Brahmin quarters near the temple called agraharams established by the Maratha ruler Serfoji I, a great admirer of Brahmin poets and bards, in the early part of the 18th century. Abirami Antati () is a Tamil language, Tamil collection of poems sung on goddess Parvati, Abirami, a deity venerated in Amritaghateswarar-Abirami Temple, Thirukkadaiyur, Thirukkadaiyur Amirtaghatesvarar Sivan Temple, situated in Tamil Nadu, India. This poetry was composed by Abirami Pattar, Abirami Bhattar (His birth name was Subramanyam Iyer) who lived during the 18th century CE, a contemporary to Serfoji I of Tanjore. Etymology Antati (, Antāti) is a classification of Tamil poetry in which last word of a previous verse comes as the first word of next verse. Thus this kind of poem gots its name, Antam (அந்தம், the end) + āti (ஆதி, the beginning) = Antāti. Amrithakadeeswarar Abhirami Temple (also called Abhirami temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva in his manifestation as Kalantaka and his wife Parvati as Abhirami.
