Muhammad Ali Bey al-Abid (, ; 1867 – 22 October 1939; or, as he spelled his own name in French, Mehmed Ali Abed) was a Syrian politician and statesman. Abid Hasan Safrani, IFS, born Zain-al-Abdin Hasan, was an officer of the Indian National Army (INA) and later, after 1947, an Indian diplomat. He famously introduced the slogan ' Jai Hind', which translates to 'victory belongs to India' that is used for official and semi-official purposes including army salutes, moral upliftment and in pop culture. Born to an anti-colonialist family in Hyderabad, Abid Hasan was brought up in India and later went to Germany to train as an engineer. While he was a student in Germany during World War II, Abid Hasan met Subhas Chandra Bose and decided to join the Indische Legion. Abid Ali Abid (Urdu/Persian: سید عابد علی عابد) was a Pakistani Urdu and Persian poet and educator who was born on 17 September 1906 in Dera Ismail Khan, British India and died in Lahore, Pakistan on 20 January 1971. Ahmad Izzat Pasha bin Hawlu Pasha al-Abid (; or ; 1851–1924), nicknamed Izzat Pasha the Arab (), was a Syrian entrepreneur who became Second Secretary and confidant of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II. He is considered to have been "one of the most powerful" statesmen during the last decade of Abdulhamid's rule. Life Ahmad Izzat al-Abid was born in Damascus. His father was Hawlu Pasha al-Abid. Hawlu Pasha al-Abid (; or ; 1824–1895) was a prominent Syrian administrator during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulaziz. He was descended from the Syrian Mawālī Bedouins. Lieutenant General Abdul Hamid Mahmud al-Tikriti ( ; ) (21 September 1957 – 7 June 2012) was an Iraqi military officer and Saddam Hussein's personal secretary.
