Jason Grimshaw is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. Portrayed by Ryan Thomas, the character first appeared on screen on 25 December 2000. It was announced in October 2015 that Thomas had quit the role of Jason, and the character departed on 29 June 2016. Thomas reprised the role for a brief stint between 30 May and 6 June 2025, to coincide with the permanent departure of Jason's mother, Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver). Bill Ward (actor)
Bill Ward (born 5 May 1967) is an English actor. He is known for his soap opera roles as Charlie Stubbs in ''Coronation Street'' and James Barton in ''Emmerdale''. Early life Ward was educated at Oundle School and Bristol University where he obtained a degree in Modern British History, and worked as an advertising executive before beginning his professional acting career in the 1980s. Career Ward acted widely in theatre and television, joining the cast of ''Coronation Street'' in 2003, portraying local builder Charlie Stubbs, until 2007 when his character was killed by Tracy Barlow after a domestic abuse storyline. He made his second appearance in a major soap opera role as James Barton in ''Emmerdale'' beginning in 2013. Charlie Stubbs is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Bill Ward. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 10 November 2003 and last appearance on 15 January 2007. Michael Starke (Michael Clarke) (born 13 November 1957) is a British actor and singer from Liverpool, England. He played Thomas 'Sinbad' Sweeney in ''Brookside'', the Channel 4 soap opera, for sixteen years. After his departure from ''Brookside'', in October 2000, he appeared in a Christmas 2000 episode of the BBC drama ''Casualty''. Melanie 'Mel' Morton is a fictional character from the British soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Emma Edmondson.
