Aberdeen Floating Village
The Aberdeen Floating Village is a Port, fishing port located in the Aberdeen, Hong Kong, Aberdeen area of the Southern District, Hong Kong, Southern District of Hong Kong. The port contains approximately 600 Junk (ship), junk boats used for Houseboat, residential and commercial purposes. As of 2025, approximately 6,000 people reside in the vicinity of the Port area. History Since the 19th century, Aberdeen has been an important fishing port in Hong Kong and remains the only fishing port in the Southern District of Hong Kong. Over one-third of the fish caught in Hong Kong are processed in Aberdeen port. Sampan
A sampan is a relatively flat-bottomed wooden boat found in East, Southeast, and South Asia. It is possibly of Chinese or Austronesian origin. Some sampans include a small shelter on board and may be used as a permanent habitation on inland waters. The design closely resembles Western hard chine boats like the scow or punt. Sampans are generally used for transportation in coastal areas or rivers and are often used as traditional fishing boats. Jumbo Kingdom () consisted of the Jumbo Floating Restaurant () and the adjacent Tai Pak Floating Restaurant (), which were tourist attractions in the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelters, Aberdeen South Typhoon Shelters within Hong Kong's Aberdeen, Hong Kong, Aberdeen Harbour. During its 44 years of operation, over thirty million visitors visited Jumbo Kingdom, including Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II, Jimmy Carter, Tom Cruise, Chow Yun Fat, and Gong Li.
