Abe Deutschendorf
Abe Deutschendorf (February 12, 1935 – December 23, 2012) was an American politician who served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1994 to 2006, as a Democrat representing the Lawton area in District 62. Deutschendorf was author of the first law giving Oklahomans free access to proposed legislation via the Internet. He was required to vacate his seat in 2006 because of the term limits law. Before his legislative tenure, he was a longtime educator, serving as the first principal of Eisenhower Junior High School in Lawton. He also served as teacher, coach, counselor and assistant principal at the same school for a total of 25 years. Lawton, Oklahoma
Lawton is a city in and the county seat of Comanche County, in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Located in southwestern Oklahoma, approximately southwest of Oklahoma City, it is the principal city of the Lawton, Oklahoma, metropolitan statistical area. According to the 2020 census, Lawton's population was 90,381, making it the sixth-largest city in the state, and the largest in Western Oklahoma. Developed on former reservation lands of the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache Indians, Lawton was founded by European Americans on 6 August 1901. It was named after Major General Henry Ware Lawton, who served in the Civil War, where he earned the Medal of Honor, and was killed in action in the Philippine–American War. Oklahoma House Of Representatives
The Oklahoma House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Its members introduce and vote on bills and resolutions, provide legislative oversight for state agencies, and help to craft the state's budget. The upper house of the Oklahoma Legislature is the Oklahoma Senate. The Oklahoma Constitution established the powers of the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1907. Voters further amended those powers through constitutional referendums. One referendum required legislators to balance the annual state budget. John Denver
Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. (December 31, 1943 – October 12, 1997), known professionally as John Denver, was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor, activist, and humanitarian whose greatest commercial success was as a solo singer. After traveling and living in numerous locations while growing up in his military family, Denver began his music career with folk music groups during the late 1960s. Starting in the 1970s, he was one of the most popular Acoustic music, acoustic artists of the decade and one of its best-selling artists.
