Abdul–Aziz Yakubu (mathematician)
Abdul–Aziz Yakubu (4 April 1958 – 14 August 2022) was a mathematical biologist. Yakubu was a professor at Howard University for over 20 years and served as chair of the mathematics department from 2004 to 2014.Howard University Mourns the Loss of Abdul-Aziz Yakubu'. He attended Accra Academy for high school education. Yakubu became interested in math while studying at the University of Ghana - Legon, where he earned his B.S in mathematics and computer science in 1982. In 1985, Yakubu earned his master's degree in applied mathematics from the University of Toledo in Ohio. Before continuing to Howard University, he attended North Carolina State University and received his doctoral degree in applied mathematics in 1990. Avner Friedman
Avner Friedman (; born November 19, 1932) is Distinguished Professor of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Ohio State University. His primary field of research is partial differential equations, with interests in stochastic processes, mathematical modeling, free boundary problems, and control theory. Friedman received his Ph.D. degree in 1956 from the Hebrew University. He was a professor of mathematics at Northwestern University (1962–1985), a Duncan Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University (1985–1987), and a professor of mathematics (Regents' Professor from 1996) at the University of Minnesota (1987–2001). Overtoun Malandula G. Jenda is a Malawi-born American mathematician. He is a Professor of Mathematics and Assistant Provost for Special Projects and Initiatives at Auburn University. Jenda received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring in 2020 and was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2024.
