Abdulrahman Mohammed Jamsheer
Abdulrahman Mohammed Jamsheer (born Al Muharraq Governorate, Kingdom of Bahrain, 1944) is a prominent Bahraini businessman and politician. Mr. Jamsheer was appointed by his Majesty the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a member and then elected as the First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council for the period of 2002-2006 and now serves as the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security of the Shura Council in the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the start of his career he worked in Bahrain's Ministry of Agriculture and later the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization. In 1973, he amongst others founded the National Import and Export Company, currently Esterad Investment Company, and was appointed as the General Manager until 1980, and from 1980-Present; Managing Director, member of the Board of Directors and Investment Committee. Al Muharraq Governorate
The Muharraq Governorate ( ar, محافظة المحرق, Muḥāfaẓat al-Muḥarraq) is one of the four governorates of Bahrain. It is now co-extensive with the municipality of Al Muharraq and with Muharraq Island together with outlying islets. It includes the former municipality of Al Hadd at the southern end of that island. The centre of Muharraq contains some of the oldest residential properties in the Kingdom, many of which have been rented out by their Bahraini owners to expatriate workers. There are also many buildings of historic interest in the town's crowded lanes, including the Shaikh Isa bin Ali House, Siyadi House, the wind towers, the infamous Falcon Statue and the neighbourhood of journalist Abdullah Al Zayed House, as well as the impressive Arad Fort. The government has been accused on not putting enough money into the restoration of these historic sites to turn them into tourist attractions. The American University of Beirut (AUB) ( ar, الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت) is a private, non-sectarian, and independent university chartered in New York with its campus in Beirut, Lebanon.
