Abdullahi Sule
Abdullahi Sule (born December 26, 1959) is a Nigerian entrepreneur, businessman and politician who is the Governor of Nasarawa State. He was elected the Governor of Nasarawa State in the 2019 Governorship election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Early life and education He was born on December 26, 1959, in Gudi Station, Akwanga-West Development Area of Nasarawa State. His early schooling was at Roman Catholic Mission (RMC) Primary School, Gudi Station in 1968. He then enrolled in Zang Secondary School in 1974 and later Government Technical College, Bukuru in 1977. After his secondary education, he went to Plateau State Polytechnic, in Barkin Ladi in 1980. He then left Nigeria on a scholarship to study at Indiana University, Terre Haute, Indiana, United States where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Technology and a master's degree in Industrial Technology. 2019 Nasarawa Gubernatorial Election
The 2019 Nasarawa State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019, the APC nominee Abdullahi Sule won the election, defeating David Ombugadu of the PDP. Abdullahi Sule emerged APC gubernatorial candidate after scoring 926 votes and defeating his closest rival, Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, who received 519 votes. He picked Emmanuel Akabe as his running mate. David Ombugadu was the PDP candidate with Ogoshi Onawo as his running mate. Labaran Maku was the APGA candidate, while Umar Aliyu Doma stood for ZLP. 29 candidates contested in the election. He was elected as a senator in 2019. Background Al-makura was born around 1952 in Lafia, Nasarawa State as a member of the Gwandara ethnic Group. All Progressives Congress
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Founded on 6 February 2013 from a merger of Nigeria's three largest opposition parties, the party came to power following the victory of party candidate Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election. This marked the first time in Nigerian history that an opposition party unseated a governing party and power was transferred peacefully. In 2015, the APC won the majority of seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, though it fell shy of winning a super-majority to override the ability of PDP to block legislation.
