Abdulla Babayev
Abdulla Murtuz oghlu Babayev (, April 1, 1924 – March 10, 2015) was an Azerbaijani singer, People's Artiste of Azerbaijan (1998). Biography Abdulla Babayev was born on April 1, 1924, in Tumbul, Nakhichevan uezd. Abdulla Babayev, who graduated from high school in 1941, worked in various positions in the Nakhichevan railway section until 1959. In 1959–2011, he worked as a soloist of the Nakhchivan State Song and Dance Ensemble. Abdulla Babayev toured Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Georgia and Turkey. Abdulla Babayev died on March 10, 2015. Tumbul
Tumbul is a village and municipality in the Nakhchivan (city), Nakhchivan city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan. It is located 5 km in the south from the city center, on the Nakhchivan plain. Its population is mainly busy with grape-growing. There are secondary school, club, library and a medical center in the village. It has a population of 1,595. The municipality consists of the villages of Tumbul and Haciniyyət. Etymology According to some researchers, the name is reflects the name of the Kurds, Kurdish tribe which called ''dumbuli''. This tribe have been moved from Syria to the south of Azerbaijan in the period of the Kara Koyunlu ruler Qara Yusuf (1410–20) and later they served to the Qizilbash, Gyzylbashs. At the present in Iran, the remains of this tribe are known as ''isabeyli''. Nakhichevan Uezd
The Nakhichevan ''uezd'' was a county (''uezd'') of the Erivan Governorate of the Caucasus Viceroyalty (1801–1917), Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire. It bordered the governorate's Sharur-Daralayaz uezd to the north, the Zangezur uezd of the Elizavetpol Governorate to the east, and Iran to the south. Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic
The Nakhichevan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, abbreviated as the Nakhichevan ASSR was an autonomous republic within the Azerbaijan SSR, itself a republic within the Soviet Union. It was formed on 16 March 1921 and became a part of the Azerbaijan SSR proper on 9 February 1924. The first flag of the Nakhichevan ASSR was introduced in 1937 and contained both Azerbaijani and Armenian text. In the 1940s, when the Azerbaijani Latin alphabet was being replaced by Cyrillic, the previous flag was replaced by a Soviet flag with the Azerbaijani Cyrillic text "Нахчыван МССР" in gold and a dark blue bar along the fess. In December 1918, with the support of Azerbaijan's Musavat Party, Jafargulu Khan Nakhichevanski declared the Republic of Aras in the Nakhichevan uyezd of the former Erivan Governorate assigned to Armenia by Wardrop.
