Abdolali Badrei
Abdol Ali Badrei (29 March 1921 – 11 February 1979) was an Iranian lieutenant general and the last commander of the Imperial Iranian Army and the Imperial Guard. He was one of the hardline senior military officers and was assassinated during the course of the regime change in Iran. Early life and education Badrei was born in Kermanshah on 29 March 1921. He graduated from the military academy in Kermanshah and Tehran. Career After graduation, Badrei joined the Imperial army as lieutenant in the Mounted Infantry. His first mission was in 1946 to fight against rebels in Azerbaijan and Kurdistan Province. Then he joined the imperial guards in 1946. In 1967, he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general and served as second in command in the guards. In 1971, he became a major general and was appointed commander of the immortal guards in 1973. Shapour Bakhtiar ( fa, شاپور بختیار, ; 26 June 19146 August 1991) was an Iranian politician who served as the last Prime Minister of Iran under the Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. In the words of historian Abbas Milani: "more than once in the tone of a jeremiad he reminded the nation of the dangers of clerical despotism, and of how the fascism of the mullahs would be darker than any military junta". In 1991, he and his secretary were murdered in his home in Suresnes, France, by agents of the Islamic Republic. Early life Bakhtiar was born on 26 June 1914 in southwestern Iran into a family of Iranian tribal nobility, the family of the paramount chieftains of the then powerful Bakhtiari tribe. Arteshbod Gholam-Ali Oveissi ( fa, غلامعلی اویسی; 16 April 1918 – 7 February 1984) was an Iranian general and the Chief Commander of the Imperial Iranian Armed Forces under Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He was the last general to head the Imperial Army of Iran. He is regarded as one of the most powerful and adept military generals in Iran's modern history. Early life Oveissi's family from his father's lineage goes back to Shah Qara Yusuf Muhammad, the ruler of the Ghara Ghoyonlu dynasty (Black Sheep Turkomans) and descends through Uzun Hassan.
