Abdelkhader Houamel
Abdelkhader Houamel (August 17, 1936 – July 11, 2018) was an Algerian painter. Born in N'Gaous, he is considered to be among the founders of contemporary Algerian painting. Between 1955 and 1960, Abdelkhader Houamel was an active member of the National Liberation Front as part of his socialist and anti-colonialist beliefs. In 1960, Houamei's work was featured in its first solo exhibition, at the Salon des Arts in Tunis. Following that he began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. N'Gaous
N'Gaous () is an ancient town in northeastern Algeria, The city of N'Gaous is a city located southwest of the state of Batna, an area of 80.45 km, rising 770 meters above sea level, in a beautiful place among the strings of the Oras, with a is the westward and eastward terrain aspect. The Chaoui people or ''Shawyia'' (, ) are a Berber ethnic group native to the Aurès region in northeastern Algeria. They call themselves ''Išawiyen''/''Icawiyen'' (pronounced ) and speak the Shawiya language. They are the second largest Tell Atlas Berber-speaking ethnicity, alongside the Kabyles and Chenouas.
