Abdalá Bucaram Jr.
Abdalá Jaime Bucaram Pulley Jr. (born 25 March 1982) is an Ecuadorian political figure and former footballer. He is the son of former President Abdalá Bucaram, Abdalá Bucaram Ortiz. After his retirement from professional football at age 24, he began his political career by being elected to office, as an Assemblyman with 428,000 votes in 2009 and in 2014 was re-elected with 500,000. On 1 December 2014, he announced his resignation from his position as National Assemblyman due to his strong convictions that the office he served did not serve the best interest of his constituents. On 2017 he ran for the presidency of the republic under the support of his political party Fuerza Ecuador (FE), founded by him, he lost the election obtaining only 4.82% of the votes. 2017 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections were held in Ecuador on 19 February 2017 alongside a referendum on tax havens. Voters elected a new President and National Assembly. Incumbent President Rafael Correa of the PAIS Alliance was not eligible for re-election, having served three terms. In the first round of the presidential elections, PAIS Alliance candidate Lenín Moreno received 39% of the vote. Although he was more than 10% ahead of his nearest rival, Guillermo Lasso of the Creating Opportunities party, Moreno was just short of the 40% threshold required to avoid a run-off. As a result, a second round was held on 2 April.Ecuador will hold run-off poll to choose new president
