Abandonada (film)
''Abandonada'' (transl. Abandoned or Abandoned Woman) is a 2000 Philippine drama film directed by Joel Lamangan. The film stars Maricel Soriano, Edu Manzano and Angelu de Leon. Plot Gemma migrates to Canada to support her husband Edwin and newborn son Marco. Working as a nurse, she is jailed for two years and ultimately deported for fatally overdosing a terminally ill young patient in an act of mercy. Upon returning to the Philippines, she finds that Edwin had left her and taken along Marco while telling everyone that she had died abroad. Gemma tracks down Edwin and Marco to an affluent neighborhood in Manila, where he has married an unsuspecting socialite named Cindy for her money and has an infant daughter with her named Abby, while passing off Marco as his nephew. Joel Lamangan (born September 21, 1952) is a Filipino film director, television director, actor, and comedian. His award-winning films include '' The Flor Contemplacion Story'', '' Sidhi'', '' Deathrow'', ''Hubog'', '' Aishte Imasu 1941'', ''Blue Moon'' and ''Mano Po''. The Luna Awards are awards given annually by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Filipino film industry. The first awards were presented in 1983 in Pasay. It is considered to be the Philippine counterpart of the Oscars. It used to be known as the FAP Awards until in 2005 when it got its current name. Since 2007, the Academy started holding simple awards ceremonies due to lack of government funding and reduction of its share from MMFF earnings. This also caused some delays for ceremony scheduling. Antonio "Tony" Ocampo Mabesa ONA (January 27, 1935 – October 4, 2019) was a Filipino stage director, film and television actor, and professor.
