Ab Geldermans
Albertus "Ab" Geldermans (born 17 March 1935, in Beverwijk) is a former Dutch professional road bicycle racer and directeur sportif. He was professional from 1959 to 1966 and rode seven editions of the Tour de France. In 1962 he finished fifth overall and wore the yellow jersey for two days. In 1960 Geldermans won Liège–Bastogne–Liège and won the Deutschland Tour. In 1962 he was Dutch road race champion. Afterwards he became directeur sportif of the Dutch national cycling team that competed in the 1967 Tour de France and directed Jan Janssen to victory in the 1967 Tour de France. Beverwijk
Beverwijk () is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. The town is located about northwest of Amsterdam in the Randstad metropolitan area, north of the North Sea Canal very close to the North Sea coast. A railway tunnel and two motorway tunnels cross the canal between Beverwijk and the nearby city of Haarlem on the south side of the canal. Around 1640, a town called Beverwyck was founded in the Dutch colony of New Netherland. That town's modern name is Albany, New York. The 1962 Vuelta a España was the 17th Vuelta a España, taking place from 27 April to 13 May 1962. It consisted of 17 stages over , ridden at an average speed of . Jacques Anquetil started the race with the intention of winning it and becoming the first cyclist to win all the three grand tours. However, injury forced him out of the race. His St. Raphael-Helyett team dominated the race, with the team taking the leaders jersey after the second stage of the race. Rudi Altig and Seamus Elliott both wore the jersey with Altig taking it off the shoulders of Elliott after winning the final individual time trial on the 15th stage. The 1962 Tour de France was the 49th edition of the Tour de France, one of cycling's Grand Tours. The race consisted of 22 stages, including two split stages, starting in Nancy on 24 June and finishing at the Parc des Princes in Paris on 15 July. There were four time trial stages and no rest days. After more than 30 years, the Tour was again contested by trade teams instead of national teams. Jacques Anquetil of the team won the overall general classification, defending his title to win his third Tour de France. The Four Days of Dunkirk (french: Quatre Jours de Dunkerque) is road bicycle race around the Nord-Pas de Calais region of northern France. Despite the name of the race, since the addition of an individual time trial in 1963, the race has been held over a 5 or 6 day period for most of its history. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 2.HC event on the UCI Europe Tour. The race will become part of the new UCI ProSeries in 2020.
