Aaron Squires
Aaron John Squires (born November 10, 1992, in Victoria, British Columbia) is a Canadian curler from St. Thomas, Ontario. He formerly played on the World Curling Tour. As a junior curler, Squires and his St. Thomas Curling Club rink of Jason Camm, David Easter and Curtis Easter won the 2013 Pepsi Ontario Junior Curling Championships. The team then represented Ontario at the 2013 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they posted a 7–3 record before losing a tie-breaker match to Manitoba's Matt Dunstone rink. Later in the year, Squires was added to the Jake Higgs rink at the 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials Qualifying Tournament as an alternate. In university, Squires skipped the Wilfrid Laurier University rink at the 2014 CIS/CCA Curling Championships. His Laurier rink finished the event with a 6–1 round robin record (tied with Dunstone's University of Manitoba rink). The 2016 CIS/CCA Curling Championships are held from March 20 to 23 at the Kelowna Curling Club in Kelowna, British Columbia. The host university of the event is UBC Okanagan. 2018 Ontario Tankard
The 2018 Ontario Tankard, known as the Dairy Farmers of Ontario Tankard for sponsorship reasons is the 2018 provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 31 to February 4 at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario. The winning John Epping team represented Ontario at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan. The event had a triple knockout format, rather than the traditional round robin event as done in previous years. The number of qualified teams increased from 10 to 12. Qualification process 12 teams will qualify from two regional qualifiers (three each), a challenge round (three teams), the winner of the Colts competition, plus the top two southern Ontario teams in the CTRS standings (as of December 10, 2017). 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials
The 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials (branded as the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings for sponsorship reasons) were held from December 2 to 10 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, Ottawa, Ontario. The winners of the men's and women's events would represent Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The women's final was won by Team Rachel Homan in front of her home town crowd. She defeated Team Chelsea Carey 6–5, after Carey missed a pivotal double takeout on her last shot of the 10th end. The men's final was won by Team Kevin Koe from Alberta. He defeated Team Mike McEwen 7–6, drawing to the button for one on the last stone of the 10th end. 2016 Ontario Tankard
The 2016 Ontario Tankard, the Southern Ontario men's provincial curling championship, was held from February 1 to 7 at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford, Ontario. The winning Glenn Howard rink represented Ontario at the 2016 Tim Hortons Brier in Ottawa. The Howard rink from Toronto defeated the John Epping rink (also from Toronto) in the final. It is Howard's 16th provincial championship title (ninth as skip). Teams 1Spencer was added to the team, replacing Richard Hart, who was bumped up to third, as Howard's regular third, Wayne Middaugh suffered an injury in a skiing accident and will have to miss out the remainder of the season. 2 Scott Bailey, the regular skip of this team was not able to play due work commitments; Fanset skipped the team in his place. Mark Bice
Mark Bice (born October 10, 1984 in Sarnia, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. He used to skip a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Bice had a fairly successful junior career. Bice is a two time provincial junior champion, winning in 2003 and 2005 and was a provincial schoolboy champion in 2002. In 2003, his rink of Mike Callan, Rob Pruliere and Jeff Wilson finished with a 7-5 record at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships- out of the playoffs. In 2005, they went to the Canadian Juniors again, this time with Codey Maus replacing Callan. The team finished second after the round robin with a 9-3 record. After defeating Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc's Nova Scotia rink in the semi-final, Bice lost in the final match, against Saskatchewan's Kyle George. Glenn Howard
Glenn William Howard (born July 17, 1962) is a Canadian curler who is one of the most decorated curlers of all time. He has won four world championships, four Briers and 17 Ontario provincial championships, including a record eight straight, from 2006 to 2013. Through 2017, he has played in 218 games at the Brier, more than any other curler in history. He has also won the 2001 TSN Skins Game. Career Juniors Howard lost two straight Ontario Junior Championship finals in 1980 and 1981, skipping a rink out of Midland, Ontario. In both events there were no playoffs, but a tie for first place after the round robin forced a tiebreaker. In 1980 he lost to John Kawaja and in 1981, he lost to John Base. Winter Universiade 2017, the XXVIII Winter Universiade, was a multi-sport winter event which took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 29 January to 8 February 2017. Thomas Scoffin (born April 25, 1994 in Sudbury, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Whitehorse, Yukon. He was the skip of the Canadian mixed team at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Austria. Career Scoffin has participated in seven Canadian Junior Curling Championships, having represented the Yukon in six Canadian Junior Curling Championships from 2007 to 2012 and Alberta in 2013. He was the youngest skip in Canadian Junior history, when he played in his first event in 2007 at the age of 12. The team finished in last place with an 1-11 record. In 2008, they improved to a 3-9 record. This record was replicated at the 2009 event. In 2010, they improved once again, finishing with a 5-7 record. This record would be matched in 2011.
