Aaron Sarlo
Aaron Sarlo is a singer-songwriter and comedian from Little Rock, Arkansas, United States. Life and career Sarlo was born in Evanston, Illinois. He migrated to Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of eleven. In his early twenties, he founded the power-pop band, Techno Squid Eats Parliament, with Clay Bell, Mark Pearrow, and Shayne Gray. The band was signed to Ardent Records, toured North America, appeared on MTV and MTV Canada, and have been cited as an influence for many musicians. Techno-Squid Eats Parliament
Techno-Squid Eats Parliament was a 1990s power-pop band based in Little Rock, Arkansas who released a critically acclaimed eponymous album, produced by Grammy winner, John Hampton, on Ardent Records that was re-released on Philips Multimedia as one of the world’s first Enhanced CDs. The CD functioned both as a fully playable compact disc, and when played in a Macintosh personal computer, allowed fans to access additional content such as band interviews, videos, and a tour diary. History Techno-Squid Eats Parliament formed in 1992 when childhood friends, Aaron Sarlo and Clay Bell began searching for a bassist and drummer to fill out their fledgling sound. Sarlo and Bell enlisted the help of Mark Pearrow on bass (Pearrow coined the band’s name) and Shayne Gray on drums. Ardent Records
Ardent Records is an American record label based in Memphis, which was founded by John Fry in 1959. Ardent of the 1960s and 1970s featured pop music acts and was distributed by Stax Records from 1972 until 1975. It is best remembered today for Big Star, whose first two albums, released in 1972 and 1974, helped define the style known as power pop. The label was initially an attempt by the R&B-focused Stax to move into rock music, but distribution problems prevented any releases from succeeding. Big Star became widely known through 1980s reissues and the long delayed first release of Third/Sister Lovers, recorded in 1974. The label was revived in the 1990s with two divisions: Alternative Mainstream and Contemporary Christian. Trusty is an American punk band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1989. The band moved from Little Rock to Washington, D.C., in 1992. The group disbanded in early 1998. History The Little Rock Years In 1989, the original Trusty lineup released the 7-inch EP "''A Name to Depend On''" on Soma Records. They followed this with a self-titled LP on Truant Records. Truant pressed only 1,000 copies of the record, but then re-released it as a CD with bonus tracks under the name of ''The Paul Years - A Trusty Retrospective''. In the spring of 1992, the band recorded 7-inch EP ''Cockatoo'' with Josh Bentley (of The Big Cats and Substance) on bass, before relocating to the Washington, D.C. area.
