Aaron Pierce (American Football)
Aaron R. Pierce (born September 8, 1969) is a former professional American football player who played tight end and H-back for seven seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Giants and the Baltimore Ravens. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Pierce graduated from its Franklin High School and played college football nearby at the University of Washington under head coach Don James. In his senior season in 1991, the undefeated Huskies shared the national championship with the Miami Hurricanes. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense (sports), offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. In some systems, the tight end will merely act as a sixth offensive lineman, rarely going out for passes.
