Aaron Nagel
Aaron Nagel is an American painter and the original trumpet player for punk rock/ska core act Link 80, born and raised in Berkeley, California. He later played guitar in the band DESA with other former Link 80 members Ryan Noble, Adam Davis, and Barry Krippine. He currently runs Two Twenty Two Design Studio and is an artist whose work has adorned two Rx Bandits albums (his paintings "''Predictable''" and "''Look Left ...And The Battle Begun''" are the covers of The Resignation and ...And the Battle Begun respectively) as well as DESA's split EP with Howards Alias and their latest album "'' Arriving Alive''". His paintings have been shown solo and in group shows across the country since 2005. In 2016, Nagel participated in a Link 80 reunion for the Asian Man Records 20th Anniversary. Arriving is the third studio album by Chris Tomlin released in 2004. The album has received RIAA "Platinum" status and peaked at No. 3 on ''Billboard''s Top Christian Albums chart. As of October 2008, "How Great Is Our God" is No. 1 and "Holy Is the Lord" is No. 7 on CCLI's Top 100 songs used in churches in the U.S. "Indescribable" is a cover of Laura Story, originally performed by Laura Story herself in 2003. Tomlin covered the song on this album. Likewise, "Your Grace Is Enough" is a cover of a Matt Maher song, though Tomlin rewrote the chorus compared to Maher's original version. Name Tomlin named this album after a passage he read in Isaiah 40 because he said he feels "as though we're like this landing strip in the desert for our great, incredible God to arrive on; a way for Him to come into people's lives." It was recorded with Steve Fontano at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California between 18–20 April 1997. 17 Reasons
''17 Reasons'' is the first full-length album by the ska punk band Link 80. It was recorded in 1996 and released on CD and 12" vinyl by Asian Man Records in 1997. The record was the first original release for Asian Man Records (the previous four releases had initially been released on Dill Records). It was recorded during two sessions: one at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA with Steve Fontano and one at Art of Ears with Andy Ernst. The album title and a song title ("Turn It Around") come from two of the band's favorite local Bay Area punk rock compilations: ''Turn It Around!'' and ''17 Reasons: The Mission District''. The cover photo was taken March 17, 1996 at Ann Kong's Bleach Bottle Pig Farm in Berkeley, California, located at 2072 San Pablo Ave. On October 17, 2023, Mike Park announced that Asian Man Records would reissue ''17 Reasons'' and '' The Struggle Continues'' on vinyl, as well as reprinting the band's first official shirt. Rumble At The Tracks
Link 80 was an American punk rock/ska punk band from San Francisco's East Bay, United States. Band history Link 80 started in the summer 1993 in the East Bay of California. In the beginning, original members (guitarist Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, drummer Joey Bustos, bassist Adam Pereira and singer Jeff Acree) played around the Easy Bay as Drano and The Rag-Tags before settling on Link 80. The name came from the interstate highway I-80 which they used to get to the drummer's garage for band practice and connected the band members' homes: members lived in Oakland, Berkeley and Richmond. In May 1995, Nick Traina joined the band after meeting Adam at a show in San Francisco's Mission District. Nick's passion and voice combined with the rest of the band to make them different from most ska bands and gave Link 80 the "against the rest" attitude they display throughout their lyrics. Nick Traina
Nick Traina (born Nicholas John Steel Toth; May 1, 1978 – September 20, 1997) was the lead singer for the punk band Link 80. Life Traina was the son of Danielle Steel and William George Toth. Traina died by suicide by overdosing on morphine at the age of 19. Career Traina started his first band, Shanker, at age 13 with Max Leavitt. He joined Link 80 at age 16 and played with them for three years, touring extensively. After leaving Link 80 in August 1997, Traina formed a new band called Knowledge and recorded a demo with them that has since been released on Asian Man Records. A song titled "Gnat" was included on the release; the song was recorded years earlier with Leavitt.
