Aamir J. Sheikh
Aamir Javed Sheikh (born 3 March 1970 in Gujrat city, Gujrat, Pakistan) is a Norwegian-Pakistani local politician. Sheikh was member of Oslo City council for the Høyre Party from 1995 to 2011. Aamir J. Sheikh came to Norway when he was eight, and grew up in Oslo. Sheikh is married to Afshan Rafiq, who was Norway's first full member of the Norwegian Parliament Stortinget (for Høyre) from a minority background (Athar Ali (politician), Athar Ali and Shahbaz Tariq were both deputy representatives). Since 2003, Aamir J. Sheikh has been the leader of the 14 August committee to celebrate Pakistan's national day in Norway. As the leader of the 14 August committee, he presented the Bridge Builder of the Year Award to Harald V, King Harald in 2006 in Oslo. Harald V
Harald V ( no, Harald den femte, ; born 21 February 1937) is King of Norway. He acceded to the throne on 17 January 1991. Harald was the third child and only son of King Olav V of Norway and Princess Märtha of Sweden. He was second in the line of succession at the time of his birth, behind his father. In 1940, as a result of the German occupation during World War II, the royal family went into exile. Harald spent part of his childhood in Sweden and the United States. He returned to Norway in 1945, and subsequently studied for periods at the University of Oslo, the Norwegian Military Academy, and Balliol College, Oxford. Following the death of his grandfather Haakon VII in 1957, Harald became crown prince as his father became king. A keen sportsman, he represented Norway in sailing at the 1964, 1968, and 1972 Olympic Games, and later became patron of World Sailing. Dialogue (sometimes spelled dialog in American English) is a written or spoken conversational exchange between two or more people, and a literary and theatrical form that depicts such an exchange. As a philosophical or didactic device, it is chiefly associated in the West with the Socratic dialogue as developed by Plato, but antecedents are also found in other traditions including Indian literature. Gujrat City
Gujrat (Punjabi and ur, ) is a city in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is the capital of Gujrat District and it is the 21st largest city of Pakistan by population. Along with the nearby cities of Sialkot and Gujranwala, Gujrat forms part of the ''Golden Triangle'' of industrial cities with export-oriented economies. History The area around Gujrat was settled during the reign of the Suri ruler Sher Shah prior to the Mughals. The area was named ''Khwaspur,'' in honour of Suri's Governor of Rohtas, Khwas Khan. Local traditions state that Gujrat is the second town to be built in the area, with the first having been destroyed by Mongol invasions in 1303. The city came under the Mughal Empire and was further developed during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great, who built the Gujrat Fort in 1580, and compelled local Gujjars to settle in the city in 1596–97. Shahbaz Tariq
Shahbaz Tariq (born 24 December 1948 in Pakistan) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Pakistan on 24 December 1948 however his family moved to Oslo in 1950 when he was two years old. He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo during the terms 1989–1993, 1993–1997, 1997–2001 and 2001–2005. From 2000 to 2001 he was a regular representative, covering for Bjørn Tore Godal who was appointed to the first cabinet Stoltenberg. Tariq was a member of Oslo city council from 1991 to 2003. Athar Ali (politician)
Athar Ali (born 5 March 1961 in Panjan Kasana, Gujrat) is a Pakistani Norwegian who has represented the Norwegian political party Red. He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo during the term 1993–1997. He was the first non-Western immigrant to meet as a parliamentary representative; the first to get elected as a regular representative was Afshan Rafiq. Ali was a member of Oslo municipality council from 1987 to 1995 and 1999 to 2003. He is founder and head of the Norwegian Immigrants Forum. Ali is a graduate in social work. He works as a clinical social worker.
