Aama (1964 Film)
''Aama'' () is a 1964 Nepali drama film directed by Hira Singh Khatri in his directorial debut. The film is written by Durga Shrestha and Chaitya Devi. ''Aama'' was produced by King Mahendra of Nepal under the banner of Information Department of Government of Nepal (formally Royal Nepal Film Corporation). The film stars Shiva Shankar and Bhuwan Chand, with Basundhara Bhusal, Chitya Devi Singh, Hira Singh Khatri and Hari Prasad Rimal, in supporting roles. It follows a young man who returns home after serving in his country's army. Hira Singh Khatri, was requested by Mahendra of Nepal to direct ''Aama.'' The film's post-production and indoor filming were mainly done in Kolkata, India. It was released on 7 October 1964. After the release, ''Aama'' became the first Nepalese film to be produced in Nepal. After the film's release in Nepal, it quickly became popular in the country. Chaubandi Cholo is a type of traditional Nepali women's clothing. It is often cotton in a red or white geometric print, but can differ between regional cultures. The Dhaka topi ( ), is a traditional Nepalese cloth hat which forms part of Nepalese national dress, and worn by men on celebrations in the pahadi regions. History ''Dhaka ko Topi'' literately translates to "headgear made of Dhaka cloth". Dhaka is a fine cotton cloth once exclusively imported from Dhaka, the present-day capital of Bangladesh. The Dhaka topi was a part of the Nepalese national dress, and a symbol of Nepalese nationality. It became popular during the reign of King Mahendra, who ruled between 1955 and 1972, and made wearing a Dhaka topi mandatory for official photographs for passports and documents. Daura-Suruwal
Daura-Suruwal (दौरा सुरुवाल) is one of the national outfit of Nepalese men. The Daura is a variant of the Kurta and is the upper garment, the Suruwal is the trouser. The coat was added to the costume by Jang Bahadur Rana, a prime minister of Nepal in the 19th century. The outfit is also popular in Darjeeling in neighbouring India amongst people of Indian Gorkha origin.
