Aage Friis
Aage Friis (16 August 1870 – 5 October 1949) was a Danish historian and professor at the University of Copenhagen. Biography Aage Friis was born in Korsør in Slagelse, Denmark. He was the son of Johan Frederik Friis (1833-1910) and Juliane Marie Landkilde (1832-1911). His father was a parish priest who also taught his children together with other children from the village. In 1884, he was enrolled in Viborg Katedralskole. At Copenhagen, Friis completed his studies in 1896 with a master's degree in history. He was a member of the university library at the University of Copenhagen from 1891 to 1900, during which he graduated with a doctorate in 1899 with a dissertation on Andreas Peter Bernstorff and Ove Høegh-Guldberg. In 1913, he became the history professor at the University of Copenhagen, where he remained until his retirement in 1935. He was rector of the university in 1932-1933. Aage Jørgensen (2 December 1903 – 2 January 1967) was a Danish footballer who played as a midfielder. He was a one club man for Kjøbenhavns Boldklub, commonly known as KB. Jørgensen played in seven matches for the Denmark national team between 1923 and 1929, including at the 1924–28 Nordic Football Championship, which was won by Denmark. Club career Jørgensen's entire club career was spent at KB in Frederiksberg, near Copenhagen. He was a part of the KB sides that won the Danish National Football Tournament in the 1921–22 and 1924–25 seasons. International career Jørgensen played in seven matches for the Denmark national team. His debut was in October 1923, a 3–1 friendly victory over Sweden at RÃ¥sunda Stadium in Stockholm. Aage Hertel (17 October 1873 – 3 January 1944) was a Danish stage, radio and film actor whose career began in the 1890s working as a stagehand and set painter. Hertel appeared in approximately ninety films during the silent film area. Early life and career Aage Hertel was born in Frederiksberg to Royal Danish Army colonel Harald Christian Hertel and Michaelle Elisabeth (''née'' Thomsen) Hertel. After he finished his studies, he began working as a stagehand and set painter before studying drama at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. In 1901, he began an engagement as an actor at the Dagmarteatret in Copenhagen which lasted until 1909. He played on various tours of the Danish provinces and in Norway before beginning an engagement at the Odense Teater for the 1923–1924 season. Aage Hermann (5 April 1888 – 29 August 1949) was a Danish author and journalist. Hermann's first poem was published in 1903 and his first collection was published in 1909. He worked for the state railways until 1915 when he became a journalist at the newspaper '' Ekstra Bladet''. He wrote several poems for the newspaper which were critical of the First World War and its effects on neutral seamen. His poems were also published in the 1915 collection ''Krigens Digte'' (''The Poems of the War''). He also later worked at '' B.T.'' and was the editor of ''Sport'' magazine from 1931 to 1932. Aage Haugland (1 February 1944 – 23 December 2000) was a Danish operatic bass. Life and career Haugland was born in Copenhagen and made his professional debut in Oslo in 1968. From 1970 to 1973 he was based in Bremen, and appeared at Den Jyske Opera in Aarhus in 1972. In 1973 he became a member of the Royal Danish Opera, where in 1985 he was made a Kammersanger. His engagements outside Denmark included roles at La Scala, Milan, The Metropolitan Opera, New York City, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals, the Opéra National de Paris and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In 1989 he was honoured as "Person of the Year" by the Danish-American Society of New York. He died of cancer in Lillerød, Denmark. Aage Hansen (13 April 1935 – 15 November 2023) was a Norwegian international motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 22 caps for the Norway national speedway team. Speedway career Aage Hansen was a seven-time champion of Norway, winning the Norwegian Championship all years between 1956 - 1961, as well as in 1963. He also was the Nordic Speedway Champion in 1957, and won the Nordic Team Speedway Championship together with Sverre Harrfeldt in 1966. Hansen also won two silver medals in the Norwegian Longtrack Championship in 1956 and 1963, and was a Nordic Longtrack Team Champion together with Leif Hveem in 1956. Hansen reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1957 Individual Speedway World Championship, a meeting in which he was recovering from a dislocated knee.
