Aadu Hint
Aadu Hint (birthname Adolf Edmund Hint; 10 January 1910, Külasema, Muhu Island – 26 October 1989, Tallinn) was an Estonian writer. Most of his books are related to dwellers, who are living on Estonian islands. After studying in Lümanda and Kuressaare, he worked as a teacher. From 1940 to 1947, he was a deputy in the Supreme Soviet of the ESSR. From second half of 1940s, he was a professional writer, and lived in Tallinn. He was married to Debora Vaarandi (1916-2007) and Minni Nurme (1917-1994). He had eight children. Several amongst them are writers, e.g. Eeva Park. He died in 1989. He is buried in the Kihelkonna Kihelkonna is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Saare County, on the western part of Saaremaa Island, Estonia. Eeva Park
Eeva Park (born September 9, 1950 in Tallinn) is an Estonian writer. Life Park was born Eeva Hint in 1950. She is the daughter of writers Aadu Hint and Minni Nurme. After high school she worked as a silk and porcelain painter, and as an archival assistant. She began her career in 1983 as a poet, but soon turned to prose. Her 1993 novel ''Tolm ja Tuul'' describes in a fairly obvious way the breakup of his parents' marriage. She is known for her novels' dark undertones, but she has also written plays and short stories, as well as continuing to write poetry. Park has been a member of the Estonian Writers' Union since 1993. In 1994 she received the Friedebert Tuglas Literature Prize. She currently lives in Saku Parish. Minni Nurme
Minni Katharina Nurme (born 30 October 1917 in Aidu Parish, today Viljandi Parish, Viljandi County; died 22 November 1994 in Tallinn) was an Estonian writer. Life and career Born Minni Neumann, Nurme graduated from the girls' school in Viljandi in 1936. During World War II she lived behind Soviet lines; after the war she moved to Tallinn and worked as a freelance writer. Her first prose work was the 1939 novel ''Kentaurid'' (''The Centaurs''). Two years later came the novel ''Ratastool'' (''The Wheelchair''). She turned more and more to poetry during the war, and in 1945 published her first poetry collection, ''Sünnimuld'' (''Mother Earth''). Between her second and third collections came a ten-year hiatus, largely due to the harassment of Stalinist authorities. Nurme was also active as a translator, from Finnish and English. Muhu
Muhu (also called Muhumaa in Estonian), is an island in the West Estonian archipelago of the Baltic Sea. With an area of it is the third largest island belonging to Estonia, after Saaremaa and Hiiumaa. Debora Vaarandi
Debora Vaarandi (born Debora Trull; 1 October 1916 – 28 April 2007) was an Estonian writer, considered to be a leading literary figure in post-World War II Estonia. Many of her poems were set to music. Vaarandi was a recipient of the first Juhan Liiv Poetry Award, and was recognized with the Cultural Award of the Republic of Estonia for outstanding lifetime achievement. Biography Debora Vaarandi was born in Võru on 1 October 1916 to Julianus and Tamara Trull (née Ella). She grew up on the island of Saaremaa. Vaarandi studied language and literature at the University of Tartu. In 1936, she married Aadu Hint; the couple later divorced. She joined the Communist Party of Estonia in 1940. When the Germans invaded Estonia, she escaped to Russia, returning to Estonia in 1944. Although not trained as a journalist, she worked as editor in chief of the Communistic publication ''Sirbi ja Vasara''. She was forced to resign that post after contracting tuberculosis. The Supreme Soviet of the Estonian SSR ( Estonian: ''Eesti NSV Ülemnõukogu'') was the rubber stamp "legislative assembly" of the Estonian SSR – an administrative subunit of the Soviet Union in 1940–1991. After its first democratic elections on 18 March 1990, the institution was renamed the Supreme Council of the Republic of Estonia on 8 May 1990.
