A Wilhelm Scream (EP)
''A Wilhelm Scream'', released on November 20, 2009 through Paper + Plastick, is the second EP and in all the fifth release from the Massachusetts-based melodic hardcore band A Wilhelm Scream since changing their name from Smackin' Isaiah in 2002. It is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed third full-length album '' Career Suicide'' and has thus far received very favourable reviews. The EP marked the debut of guitarist Mike Supina, who replaced longtime member Chris Levesque and took over lead guitar duties from Trevor Reilly (though Reilly continues to play all leads and solos on songs written before the EP). Recording and composition It was revealed in a July 2009 press release, featuring a partial interview with bassist Brian Robinson, that the band recorded this project themselves and it was therefore produced and recorded at their very own Black & Blue Studios in New Bedford, Massachusetts. A Wilhelm Scream (abbreviated as AWS) is a melodic hardcore band from New Bedford, Massachusetts, formed in 1999. Sonically, their music has been compared to that of Strung Out, Hot Water Music, Propagandhi, and Strike Anywhere. Their name is a reference to the Wilhelm scream, a famous stock sound effect mainly used in films. The band previously went by the names Koen and Smackin' Isaiah, though the latter was the only name to be used in any major releases. "The reason for the name changes from Koen to Smackin' Isaiah, then to A Wilhelm Scream was really a matter of them adding new members, and progressing/maturing as a band." Strike Anywhere is an American punk rock band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1999 after the demise of frontman Thomas Barnett's previous band, Inquisition, they took their name from the Inquisition song "Strike Anywhere". Their music is characterized by fast tempos, catchy melodies, and emotionally charged vocals delivered via shouting and singing. Pennywise is an American punk rock band from Hermosa Beach, California, formed in 1988. The band took its name from the antagonist in Stephen King's horror novel ''It (novel), It'' known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Between their 1991 Pennywise (album), self-titled debut and 2005's ''The Fuse (Pennywise album), The Fuse'', Pennywise released an album every two years on Epitaph Records, a label owned by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. Groezrock
Groezrock was an annual music festival that took place in Meerhout, Belgium. It started as a small rock music, rock and pop music, pop festival with one stage and a few hundred people attending, but evolved into a large punk rock/hardcore punk festival, with attendances exceeding 30,000. The festival had one stage until 2003, when it added a second stage called Back-to-Basics, which was reserved for more hardcore-oriented bands. Since 2006 the festival has taken place over multiple days, and grew to three stages in 2009 and four stages in 2012. It was announced in October 2017 that the 2018 edition of Groezrock would not be taking place in the Spring, and would instead be an indoor festival in the autumn. Outbreak is an American hardcore punk band from Maine. The group was founded in 2002 and has released two full-length albums, ''Failure'' on Bridge 9 Records, Bridge 9 and ''Outbreak'' on Think Fast! Harvest Of Hope Fest
Harvest of Hope Fest was a charity fundraiser and music festival that provided financial support for the Harvest of Hope Foundation which benefits migrant and seasonal farmworkers. The three-day event took place in March 2009 and 2010 at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds in St. Augustine, Florida, United States. History The first Harvest of Hope festival was held March 6–8, 2009 in St. Augustine, Florida. The organizers hoped for about 12,000 attendees for the weekend. “Your Love” is a song by the English rock band The Outfield, taken from their 1985 debut album '' Play Deep'', released in early 1986 and written by guitarist John Spinks. In the United States, the song reached number six on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number seven on the Album Rock Tracks chart in 1986. Background The song was written by Outfield guitarist John Spinks. Spinks was living in East London and invited the vocalist of the band, Tony Lewis, to his flat for a writing session. The two developed "Your Love" on the porch of the flat. Lewis sat on an amplifier and Spinks began writing the opening lyrics. According to Lewis, the song took only twenty minutes to write. The song's lyrics have no basis in reality: "Josie" was not a real person, and the song is an entirely invented story. Shock Records was an Australian independent record label, branded with the logo Shock or Shock Australia. Founded in 1988, it traded as Shock Records Pty. Ltd, and its publishing arm as Shock Music Publishing Pty. Ltd. Its most prominent sublabel was Permanent Records.
