Frank Lloyd
Frank William George Lloyd (2 February 1886 – 10 August 1960) was a Scottish-American film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. He was among the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and was its president from 1934 to 1935. He is Scotland's first Academy Award winner and is unique in film history, having received three Oscar nominations in 1929 for his work on a silent film ('' The Divine Lady''), a part-talkie ('' Weary River'') and a full talkie ('' Drag''). He won for ''The Divine Lady''. He was nominated and won again in 1933 for his adaptation of Noël Coward's '' Cavalcade'' and received a further Best Director nomination in 1935 for perhaps his most successful film, ''Mutiny on the Bounty''. Togo Yamamoto
was a pioneering actor who appeared on stage and film in the United States and Japan. Biography Born in Yokohama, Japan, on 4 November 1886, Togo emigrated to the United States and began an acting career in the early years of the 20th century. Yamamoto told Blanche Partington in a 1906 interview that he had been "in the dramatic business" in Japan, playing "tragedy, comedy, both" before coming to the United States. His first appearance on the American stage was in ''The White Tigress of Japan'' (1904), a play about the Russo-Japanese War. "I was Japanese spy—I killed half a dozen Russians every night!" he told Partington. Goro Kino
Goro Kino (sometimes credited as Gordo Keeno) was a Japanese actor who worked in Hollywood during the silent era. Like many of his Japanese contemporaries, in Hollywood, he was often cast as a villain. Biography According to contemporaneous reports, Kino had already established a career for himself in Japan on the stage before moving to San Francisco to work in a stock company and eventually to Los Angeles to work in film. He was a founding member of the Japanese Photo Players' Association alongside performers like Sessue Hayakawa and Misao Seki. One of his biggest film roles was as Duck Sing in 1918's ''Little Red Decides''. Etta Lee Frost (September 12, 1906 – October 27, 1956) was an American silent film actress, known for supporting roles. Early life Etta Lee Frost was born on September 12, 1906, in Kauai, Territory of Hawaii (now Hawaii), as the daughter of Martin B. Frost. Her father was a Chinese medical doctor and her mother was of French ancestry. She had a sister, Ella Deverill, and grew up in California and went on to get her degree in education at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
