"A Small Victory" is the 10th track and the second single from American rock band Faith No More's fourth studio album '' Angel Dust'', released as a single on August 3, 1992. The song was later remixed by Youth of Killing Joke and released later the same month. It was their last single to chart on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at number 11, and reached the top 30 in Finland and the United Kingdom. When asked about the song's meaning, Mike Patton said: Artwork The cover features a World War II photograph of a soldier loading shells, which originally featured on the cover of ''Life'' in September 1939. Faith No More is an American Rock music, rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. Before September 1983, the band performed under the names Sharp Young Men and later Faith No Man. Bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Roddy Bottum and drummer Mike Bordin are the longest-remaining members of the band, having been involved since its inception. The band underwent several early lineup changes, and some major changes later. Introduced as Modern Rock Tracks, the chart served as a companion to the Mainstream Rock chart (then called Album Rock Tracks), and its creation was prompted by the explosion of alternative music on American radio in the late 1980s. Ross William Halfin (born 11 August 1957) is a British rock music photographer. Since the late 1970s he has worked for some of the biggest acts in rock and heavy metal, including Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, The Who, Kiss, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Def Leppard, UFO and many others. James Blanco Martin (born July 21, 1961) is an American guitarist who played with the rock band Faith No More from 1983 to late 1993. Career In the early 1980s, Martin played guitar in the thrash metal band Vicious Hatred. Faith No More Martin joined Faith No More in 1983, four years after the group's formation. He played on the albums '' We Care a Lot'', '' Introduce Yourself'', their breakthrough record '' The Real Thing'', with new vocalist Mike Patton replacing Chuck Mosley, and '' Angel Dust''. Following the release of ''Angel Dust'', Martin left the group for reasons that remain unknown. On his now-defunct website, Martin stated that ''The Real Thing'' was FNM's ideal album, both in the creative process and the subsequent touring. Eric Reed Boucher (born June 17, 1958), known professionally as Jello Biafra, is an American singer, spoken word artist and political activist. He is the former lead singer and songwriter for the San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys. Initially active from 1979 to 1986, Dead Kennedys were known for rapid-fire music topped with Biafra's sardonic lyrics and biting social commentary, delivered in his "unique quiver of a voice". When the band broke up in 1986, he took over the influential independent record label Alternative Tentacles, which he had founded in 1979 with Dead Kennedys bandmate East Bay Ray. ''Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables'' is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Dead Kennedys. It was first released on September 2, 1980, through Cherry Red Records in the United Kingdom, and I.R.S. Records in the United States. It was later issued by Jello Biafra's own Alternative Tentacles label in the United States. It is the only Dead Kennedys studio album to feature drummer Bruce Slesinger and (on one track) guitarist Carlo Cadona. ''Erotica'' is the fifth studio album by American singer Madonna, released on October 20, 1992, by Maverick and Sire Records. The album was released simultaneously with Madonna's first book publication ''Sex'', a coffee table book containing explicit photographs of the singer, and marked her first release under Maverick, her own multimedia entertainment company. For the album, the singer enlisted Shep Pettibone and André Betts, with whom she had collaborated on 1990's "Vogue" and ''The Immaculate Collection''. In mid-1991, Pettibone sent Madonna a three-track demo; she listened to the songs and liked all of them. Afterwards, the two met in New York City to start working on more music. C+C Music Factory was an American musical group formed in 1989 by David Cole and Robert Clivillés.
