''A Pillar of Salt'' is the sixth studio album by American folk music artist Noah Gundersen. It was released by Cooking Vinyl America on October 8, 2021. Background ''A Pillar of Salt'' was written over a period starting in March 2020 and continuing well into 2021. On September 13, Gundersen announced that the full album would be released on October 8, and provided links to pre-order vinyl LP or CD copies. The following day he announced the album would be performed live in its entirety at St. Marks Cathedral in Seattle on December 4. On September 29, Gundersen outlined an upcoming 2022 Europe/UK Tour in support of ''A Pillar of Salt''. Beginning in March 2022, Gundersen toured for two and a half weeks across Europe, starting in Stockholm and finishing in Dublin. Noah Gundersen
Noah Gundersen (born May 31, 1989) is an American indie folk singer-songwriter from Seattle. Early life Born in Olympia, Washington, Gundersen is the oldest of five biological and three adopted siblings, in a family that moved to Centralia, Washington to homestead when he was five. Gundersen was home schooled in a conservative Christian household. He took piano lessons at age 13 and later learned to play the guitar. At the age of 18, Gundersen left home to pursue a career in music and began to play at venues around Seattle. As a teenager, Gundersen formed his first band, Beneath Oceans, with a few friends from his high school. The band included Gundersen, Michael Porter on lead guitar, and Keelan O’Hara on drums. ''Ledges'' is the full-length solo debut album by Noah Gundersen. It was self-produced and recorded at Stone Gossard's Studio Litho in Seattle. It was released on February 11, 2014. The track "Poor Man's Son" features Gundersen's sister Abby and brother Jonathan on various instruments. The first two recordings of the album were abandoned in favor of a self-produced version. Jason McGerr
Jason McGerr (born July 19, 1974) is an American musician, best known as the drummer for the indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie. Musical career Early years McGerr was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington. At age ten, he began learning to play the drums in order to get into his middle school band. By 16, he was playing paid gigs at local bars. In a 2018 interview with KEXP, he stated that he knew he wanted to do drumming professionally when he heard Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" for the first time at 14. Gregory Brian Leisz ( ; born September 18, 1949) is an American musician. He is a songwriter, recording artist, and producer. He plays guitar, dobro, mandolin, banjo, lap steel and pedal steel guitar. Biography Leisz grew up in the garage band culture of mid-1960s Southern California. He spent time at the Ashgrove, the Troubador, and clubs on the Sunset Strip. He began playing guitar and soon added dobro and lap steel, inspired to pick up the pedal steel after hearing Sneaky Pete Kleinow and Buddy Emmons.
