''A Million Colours'', also called ''Colors of Heaven'', is a 2011 film directed by Peter Bishai and co-written with Andre Pieterse. It is based on the lives of Muntu Ndebele and Norman Knox, actors in the film '' Forever Young, Forever Free'', also known as ''e'Lollipop''. ''Forever Young, Forever Free'' (original South African title: ''e'Lollipop'') is a 1975 South African drama film directed by Ashley Lazarus and starring José Ferrer and Karen Valentine. The lives of actors Muntu Ndebele and Norman Knox are dramatised in the 2011 unofficial sequel Canadian film, A Million Colours, directed by Peter Bishai and co-written with Andre Pieterse. Plot A white orphan, Jannie, is dropped off at an orphanage run by a priest and nun in Lesotho, Southern Africa. The boy befriends another orphan, Tsepo, who is black. While playing with a tractor tyre, Jannie rolls down a cliff, severely injuring himself. During this ordeal, he has flashbacks to his parents dying. Jannie is evacuated to New York City via a USAF mercy flight, to have his kidneys operated on, due to his injuries. Soweto Uprising
The Soweto uprising, also known as the Soweto riots, was a series of demonstrations and protests led by black school children in South Africa during apartheid that began on the morning of 16 June 1976. Students from various schools began to protest in the streets of the Soweto township in response to the introduction of Afrikaans, considered by many blacks as the "language of the oppressor", as the medium of instruction in black schools. It is estimated that 20,000 students took part in the protests. They were met with fierce police brutality, and many were shot and killed. The number of pupils killed in the uprising is usually estimated as 176, but some sources estimate as many as 700 fatalities.
