"A Lovely Day Tomorrow" is a 2004 single by British Sea Power, only released to shops in the Czech Republic but available at certain shows and via mail order in the United Kingdom. It is a re-recording of an early B-side by the band (from the "Remember Me" single). The B-side "Zítra Bude Krásný Den" is a version of the song translated into Czech. Both versions of the song feature lead vocals by Kateřina Winterová of Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. Whilst the original plan had been to teach original vocalist, Hamilton, the Czech lyrics it was thought to be easier to recruit someone else. The song deals with the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich by two Czechoslovak agents during World War II. It's A Lovely Day Tomorrow
"It's a Lovely Day Tomorrow" is a song written in 1938 by composer Irving Berlin. The song came out of a conversation with British / Hungarian film producer Alexander Korda in a New York taxi cab in 1938. The Munich agreement had just depressed both men. Korda asked Berlin if he had written a war song yet, and a few blocks later Berlin came up with the tune and lyrics. It was first performed in London at the start of the war in 1939 before its American release, which caused a sensation at the time. Berlin used it in his 1940 musical ''Louisiana Purchase'', in which it describes feelings of despair and hope during the American Great Depression, of the 1930s. Irene Bordoni performed the song on the opening night. In the film version of ''Louisiana Purchase'' in 1941, the song was performed by a black chorus. Operation Anthropoid
On 27 May 1942 in Prague, Reinhard Heydrichthe commander of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA), acting governor of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, and a principal architect of the Holocaustwas attacked and wounded in an assassination attempt by Czechoslovak resistance operatives Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš. Heydrich died of his wounds on 4 June 1942. The assassination, codenamed Operation Anthropoid, was carried out by soldiers of the Czechoslovak Army after preparation and training by the British Special Operations Executive and with the approval of the Czechoslovak government-in-exile, led by Edvard Beneš. The Czechoslovaks undertook the operation to help confer legitimacy on the government-in-exile, and to exact retribution for Heydrich's brutal rule. Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich ( ; ; 7 March 1904 – 4 June 1942) was a high-ranking German SS and police official during the Nazi era and a principal architect of the Holocaust. Ecstasy Of Saint Theresa (band)
The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa is a Czech alternative rock band formed in 1990 by Jan Muchow, Jan Gregar, Petr Wegner, and Irna Libowitz. The band released the EP ''Pigment'' in 1991. This album, along with 1992's ''Susurrate'', featured a feedback-drenched psychedelic rock sound. From there, the band moved into ambient and techno-influenced soundscapes, as evidenced by their 1993 album, ''Free-D'', produced with Guy Fixsen ( Laika). ''Free-D'' marked the end of the original lineup and something of a hiatus for the band. For the next six years, they only released the 1994 remix EP ''AstralaVista''. 1999's ''In Dust 3'' featured Muchow and actress Kateřina Winterová on eleven tracks of pop and post rock sounds. Command of the sea (also called control of the sea or sea control) is a naval military concept regarding the strength of a particular navy to a specific naval area it controls. A navy has command of the sea when it is so strong that its rivals cannot attack it directly. Kateřina Winterová
Kateřina Winterová (born 12 February 1976) is a Czech actress, permanent member of the National Theatre in Prague, and vocalist for the band The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa. Life and career Childhood, studies, and theatre Winterová was born in Benešov and spent her childhood in Mělník. From 1990 to 1996, she attended the musical drama department at the Prague Conservatory. During her studies, she performed at the Divadlo pod Palmovkou theatre. From 1996 to 1998, she appeared as a guest at the Klicperovo divadlo theatre in Hradec Králové and at the National Theatre in Prague. Since 1998, she has been a permanent member there.
