The Outer Limits (1963 TV Series)
''The Outer Limits'' is an American television series that was broadcast on ABC from September 16, 1963, to January 16, 1965, at 7:30 PM Eastern Time on Mondays. It is often compared to '' The Twilight Zone'', but with a greater emphasis on science fiction stories (rather than stories of fantasy or the supernatural). It is an anthology of self-contained episodes, sometimes with plot twists at their ends. In 1997, the episode " The Zanti Misfits" was ranked #98 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time. It was revived in 1995, until its cancellation in 2002. In April 2019, a new revival was stated to be in development at a premium cable network. Benjamin Huntington Wright (5 May 1915 — 2 July 1989) was an English actor. He was best known for playing Herr Zeller in ''The Sound of Music''. He also played numerous roles in famous films and worked as voice actor, having roles in animated films by Disney Studios. Early life Ben Wright was born on 5 May 1915 in London to an American father and an English mother. At the age of 16, he entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Upon graduating, he acted in several West End stage productions. When World War II broke out, he enlisted and served in the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He came to the U.S. in 1946 to attend a cousin's wedding and settled in Hollywood. Glenn Cannon (November 21, 1932 – April 20, 2013) was an American actor and educator best known for his roles on ''Hawaii Five-O'' and ''Magnum, P.I.'' In a nuclear research plant, although the workers wear radiation suits, they are taken over by some odd glowing substance. It fills their suits and causes them to act like puppets. The episode mentions many modern physics concepts such as neutrinos, antimatter, quasi-stellar objects (at that time just discovered and perhaps mentioned here in TV fiction for the first time) and subatomic particles with the property of "strangeness" (a quantum property of matter which had been named only a few years before by physicists, despite objection at the time that it was no more "strange" or odd than any other property of subatomic particles). Joseph William Stefano (May 5, 1922 – August 25, 2006) was an American screenwriter, known for adapting Robert Bloch's novel as the script for Alfred Hitchcock's film ''Psycho'', and for being the producer and co-writer of the original ''The Outer Limits'' television series. Early years Stefano was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to a father who was a tailor and a mother who made silk flowers. As a teenager, Stefano was so keen to become an actor that he dropped out of high school two weeks before graduation and traveled to New York City. In Manhattan he adopted the stage name Jerry Stevens. Stefano's initial career was as a composer of pop music in the 1940s, writing songs for Las Vegas showman Donn Arden.
