A Distant Neighborhood (film)
''A Distant Neighborhood'' () is a 2010 internationally co-produced fantasy film directed by Sam Garbarski. The screenplay, written by Garbarski alongside Jérôme Tonnerre and Philippe Blasband, was based on the A Distant Neighborhood, manga of the same name by Jiro Taniguchi. The film stars Pascal Greggory, Jonathan Zaccaï, Alexandra Maria Lara and Léo Legrand, with Évelyne Didi, Lionel Abelanski and Tania Garbarski in supporting roles. The film tells the story of Thomas Verniaz, a middle-aged family man who accidentally takes a train ride back to his old hometown and visits his mother's grave. Thomas is then transported back in time, and discovers that he's a teenager again, but with all of his adult memories intact. Sam Garbarski
Sam Garbarski (born 13 February 1948) is a Belgian film director and screenwriter. His film ''Irina Palm'' (2007) was awarded David di Donatello for Best European Film, Best European Film at the David di Donatello Awards, 53rd David di Donatello Awards. He then directed ''A Distant Neighborhood (film), A Distant Neighborhood'' (2010), a fantasy film based on the A Distant Neighborhood, manga of the same name by Jiro Taniguchi. Garbarski co-wrote its screenplay with Jérôme Tonnerre and Philippe Blasband. The film earned him a Magritte Award nomination in the category of Magritte Award for Best Director, Best Director.
