Hungary was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The local MTVA (Hungary), Media Services and Support Trust Fund (MTVA) and the Hungarian broadcaster Duna Media Service organised the national final ''A Dal 2018'' in order to select the Hungarian entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. Background Prior to the 2018 contest, Hungary had participated in the Eurovision Song Contest fourteen times since its first entry in . Hungary's best placing in the contest was fourth, which they achieved with their début entry in Hungary in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, 1994 with the song "Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?" performed by Friderika Bayer. AWS (band)
AWS (pronounced ah-vi-esh) is a Hungarian post-hardcore band formed in early November 2006 by Örs Siklósi (September 4, 1991 – February 5, 2021), Bence Brucker, Dániel Kökényes, Soma Schiszler and Áron Veress. Their music is characterized by diversity, powerful performances, and sudden changes, which utilizes metal, psychedelic rock, alternative and post-rock styles. Up to now, they have released five studio albums, two live albums and fourteen video clips. Their music videos often have juxtapositions of images of violence and celebrities in order to bring light to problems that the world faces, exhibiting what they call being "anti-celebrity". ''A Dal'' (English: The Song) is an annual music competition in Hungary organised by the national broadcaster Duna since 2012 and served as the national selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest between 2012 and 2019. The contest was introduced by the MTVA, the organisers of the contest, with a different philosophy than the contest used previously. ''A Dal'' was introduced to produce a Hungarian contest, with Hungarian musical tastes being presented to a European audience. The contest is also an open one, with all information of the songs being revealed in the selection process. Format The selected songs in the contest are shown to the Hungarian public through a number of special shows. It includes three heats (four in 2021), two semi-finals, and then a final. Locomotiv GT (often abbreviated LGT, and sometimes using the nickname Loksi) was a Hungarian rock band formed in 1971. Károly Frenreisz
Károly Frenreisz (born 8 November 1946, Budapest, Hungary) is a Hungarian rock singer and songwriter. Life Frenreisz first studied piano and then learned to play the clarinet, saxophone, and bass. He was from 1965 to 1971 part of the band Metró (Hungarian band), Metró. The most famous song he wrote while in the band was ''Citromízű banán''. He played a significant role in getting Metró through the end of the sixties and being part of the era of modern experimental trends in music. In 1971, he was a founding member of the band Locomotiv GT, where he was the bassist, brass player, and lead singer. Judit Schell (born 16 April 1973) is a Hungarian actress. Career She graduated from the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest in 1995.
