The Album Leaf is an American musical project founded in San Diego, California, in 1998 by Jimmy LaValle. He is known for his use of electronics, synthesizer, and Rhodes piano. His performances often feature projected visual art. History Inception The Album Leaf officially began in 1998 as the solo project of Jimmy LaValle, guitarist for San Diego, California-based post-rock instrumental band Tristeza (band), Tristeza. LaValle has also performed in several other San Diego-area bands, including Justin Pearson (musician), The Crimson Curse, The Locust, Swing Kids (band), Swing Kids, and GoGoGo Airheart. Sundlaugin (, ''the swimming pool'') is a recording studio located near Álafoss in the town of Mosfellsbær in Iceland known for being the recording and rehearsal location of post-rock band Sigur Rós. The location was originally a swimming pool built in the 1930s which had been abandoned when Sigur Rós purchased it in 1999 and converted it and adjacent buildings into a studio. The band originally intended to record their third album, titled '' ( )'', in an abandoned NATO tracking base in the northernmost mountain in Iceland, but after inspection decided it was too impractical. Shortly after they found the abandoned pool lot in a rural neighborhood in Mosfellsbær. They bought the lot and transformed it into a studio. In order to fit the massive mixing console into the building, part of the roof was opened up and the console was lowered with a crane. Bear Creek Studio is a residential recording studio located in a barn on a 10 acre farm in Woodinville, Washington. Ryan Hadlock
Ryan Hadlock (born 1978) is an American record producer, best known for his production work on platinum-selling album '' The Lumineers'' by The Lumineers. Career Hadlock has been around music his entire life, as his parents Joe and Manny Hadlock founded Bear Creek Studio in 1977. The studio has remained family-owned for two generations, and is now headed by Ryan. Joe Hadlock was in a number of Seattle bands, and their family home and studio were places where creativity was always encouraged, and part of the fabric of business and socializing. Ryan grew up around famous musicians, but also many talented studio players who didn't achieve fame, but taught him much about how records were crafted. Hadlock studied sound recording in London and at The Evergreen State College.
