A Bit Patchy is a single by English DJ Switch. It is based on the 1973 recording of Apache, by Incredible Bongo Band. It was first released at the end of 2005 in discos and dance clubs, before arriving to the charts in 2006. The song was then remixed by various artists, including Eric Prydz, Sinden and Sub Focus. Charts The single peaked at 11 in Spain for a week on 24 September 2006. In the UK, it appeared in the charts on 16 December 2006, peaking at number 103. Reception On 2 October 2005, Gilles Peterson rated "A Bit Patchy" the fourth best single in the Worldwide Tracks of the Year section of Worldwide Winners. David James Andrew Taylor, better known by his stage name Switch, is an English songwriter, DJ, sound engineer, and record producer. He is best known for his work with Beyonce, M.I.A. and Major Lazer, of which he was a founding member. He was nominated at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in the Song of the Year category for ‘ Paper Planes’ by M.I.A. which he co-produced with Diplo. Other artists he has produced include Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, Santigold, and Brandy among many others. He has released various singles under his own name, and is also well known for remixing and producing for many major artists. Most notably Switch has worked extensively with fellow British artist M.I.A. co-producing tracks on her albums '' Arular'', '' Kala'', and '' Matangi''. Nicolaas Douwma (born 13 April 1982), better known by his stage name Sub Focus, is an English DJ, record producer, songwriter, musician and sound engineer from Guildford, Surrey. He has been releasing records since 2003. On 12 October 2009, he released his self-titled debut album. He released his second album, ''Torus'', on 30 September 2013. Douwma's album in collaboration with Wilkinson titled '' Portals'' was released on 9 October 2020 through Casablanca Records. The Worldwide Awards, formerly known as the Worldwide Winner Awards, are an annual awards celebration curated by radio DJ Gilles Peterson and currently hosted by Worldwide FM and Radio 6 which celebrates up-and-coming musicians on an international scale. The ceremony evolved out of an annual segment on Peterson's BBC Radio 1 show ''Worldwide'' during which listeners would vote on a list of Worldwide Winners. Gilles Jérôme Moehrle MBE (; born 28 September 1964), better known as Gilles Peterson (), is a French broadcaster, DJ, and record label owner. He founded the influential labels Acid Jazz and Talkin' Loud, and started his current label Brownswood Recordings in 2006. Reggae Fusion
Reggae fusion is a genre of reggae that mixes reggae and/or dancehall with other genres, such as pop, rock, hip hop, R&B, jazz, funk, soul, disco, electronic and latin. Origin Although artists have been mixing reggae with other genres from as early as the early 1970s, no official term had been used to describe this practice. Artists such as UB40 were described using terms that joined the various genres they performed (e.g. "reggae funk", "reggae pop", "reggae-disco"). It was not until the late 1990s when the term was coined. The subgenre predominantly evolved from late 1980s and early 1990s dancehall music which instrumentals or "riddims" contained elements from the R&B and hip hop genres.
